Based in Toronto and reporting to the Project Principal, the Senior Transportation Structures Engineer will primarily focus on structural design and analysis with an emphasis towards transportation structures such as maintenance facilities and transit stations. This role may also include aspects of project delivery management, production of structural documents, and construction administration.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for the designing and detailing of structural elements related to transportation structures such as transit stations, including design and calculations, computer modelling, and analysis.
  • Works to assemble and coordinate engineering drawings and contract documents in collaboration with our BIM technologists and other members of the engineering team.
  • Delivers projects from initial conception through completion within scope, on budget and on schedule
  • Monitors objectives related to engineering, design standards/design review, technical specifications, document control, budget and work breakdown structures, project schedules, resource prioritization, and staffing requirements
  • Drafts project-related correspondence as needed.
  • Leads client meetings facilitating solutions to design issues and challenges and providing status updates.
  • Conducts review of the architectural, electrical, mechanical and structural drawings.
  • Effectively uses QA tools and completes checklists and submits them to the project engineer as required.
  • Mentors junior staff with design and delivery elements of a project to ensure standards are upheld.
  • Such other duties and responsibilities as Entuitive may assign to you from time to time.

Requirements

What do you need to succeed?

  • An engineering degree with a focus on civil and structural engineering, coupled with 10+ years of professional experience in the AEC industry.
  • Experience managing structural design of complex transit projects, preferably for light rail transit, tunneling, underground stations, storage and maintenance facilities, operating system, and related works.
  • Achieved or preferably working towards professional engineering status in the Province of Ontario.
  • Knowledgeable in the appropriate building codes, and experience working in structural design of concrete and steel projects.
  • Experience executing structural engineering designs and activities related to transportation structures such as maintenance facilities and below ground transit stations.
  • Strong project management capability with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
  • Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word and Excel and structural analysis software such as SAFE, SAP2000, RAM, etc.).
  • Experience using computational analysis software such as Grasshopper would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to work with people at all levels including project stakeholders and clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and deliverables on an ongoing basis.
