Title: Information Security Training Coordinator
Location: Santa Monica, CA or Washington DC
Duration: 12 Months Contract
NOT open to 1099, c2c or 3rd party vendors!
Summary:
The Information Security Training Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, cybersecurity training and communications for the organization. The coordinator will work closely with Information Security, Human Resources, and other stakeholders to ensure that all employees understand cybersecurity risks, data handling, data protection, and are equipped to address them effectively. This role involves assessing training needs, designing curricula, conducting training sessions, and evaluating the effectiveness of the programs. Additionally, the coordinator will collaborate with security teams to integrate security protocols and incident response procedures into training programs.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop cybersecurity training modules tailored to different levels of the organization, including employees, IT personnel, and executive leadership.
- Coordinate cybersecurity awareness campaigns and initiatives across the organization to reinforce training and promote a culture of security.
- Conduct regular assessments of cybersecurity training needs, identifying areas where additional training is required. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, using metrics and feedback to make continuous improvements.
- Ensure all training programs align with cybersecurity compliance frameworks, security controls, industry standards, regulatory requirements, best practices and company policies.
- Facilitate and conduct training sessions, workshops, and webinars on various cybersecurity topics, including phishing, data protection, password management, and incident response.
- Develop and update training materials, including presentations, manuals, e-learning modules, and assessments. Maintain records of training sessions, participant attendance, and assessment results to demonstrate compliance with training requirements.
- Work closely with Information Services and HR to integrate cybersecurity training into the overall employee onboarding and continuous development processes.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the organization's security policies, procedures, and incident response plans to ensure training materials are accurate and relevant.
- Collaborate with security teams to integrate security protocols and incident response procedures into training programs.
- Provide administrative support to the Information Security team.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Associates degree in Information Technology or related subject, or equivalent experience. Bachelor's degree desired.
- Experience working with data and data protection standard
- Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in information technology training, information security, or a related field.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and emerging threats.
- Excellent attention to detail. Ability to ensure training content is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with cybersecurity standards.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to create engaging and effective training materials.
- Experience with e-learning platforms and learning management systems (LMS).
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.
- Flexibility to adjust training programs to respond to evolving cybersecurity threats and organizational needs.
