The buyer is responsible for the day to day purchasing activities that support Canrig?s manufacturing, aftermarket sales distribution and repair facility in Magnolia, Texas. The buyer will be a key asset in the development and implementation of purchasing strategies, ensuring compliance and strong supplier relationships.

The role of a buyer is to support the sourcing and purchasing of technical goods and services for the enterprise and ensure they are purchased from specified suppliers that meet demand requirements, business, and quality specifications. Expertise is required in technical specifications and supplier evaluation which will play a critical role in maintaining an efficient supply chain and supporting the successful execution and fulfilment to our customer. This role may also be responsible for negotiating with suppliers and ensuring the goods and services are delivered upon agreed terms and conditions, seeking maximum value for the company including agreed time and cost.

  • Source, negotiate, procure, schedule, and expedite component parts and small assemblies
  • Ensure the quality (fit, form, function) of purchased parts for capital equipment and aftermarket sales
  • Review engineering prints/demand for parts requiring processes such as casting, forging, heat treating, machining, and fabrication
  • Purchase material according to the MRP schedule
  • Maintain accurate data and proactively expedite orders
  • Update MRP sheets with preferred vendors, lead times, quantity breaks, and pricing
  • Identify and qualify new vendors
  • Audit vendor capabilities, capacity, and compliance (e.g., API / ISO certifications)
  • Schedule timely deliveries and address any issues related to delays
  • Recommend and implement improvements to sourcing or purchasing processes
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships
  • Develop sourcing strategies for raw materials, components, and assemblies
  • Work cross-functionally with Planning, Production, Quality Control, Warehouse, Finance, and Engineering
  • Contribute to the success of the procurement team through additional assigned tasks

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate?s degree and 2+ years of supply chain experience
  • OR High school diploma and 4+ years of supply chain experience (preferably in manufacturing)
  • Minimum 2 years of procurement experience required

Language Skills

  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills

Mathematical Skills

  • Proficient in basic math operations and percentages

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, and visual instructions

Computer Skills

  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, and inventory systems
  • Strong Excel skills preferred

Certifications

  • Valid driver?s license
