Job Title: Senior SQL Server Database Administrator
Role Overview:
The SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Microsoft SQL Server environments. This role supports data integrity, performance optimization, automation, and secure data transfer processes within SQL and Windows Server platforms. Experience with PowerShell and Python scripting, as well as familiarity with IIS, automated file processing, and connectivity troubleshooting, is required. The ideal candidate has a proactive approach to database administration with skills in monitoring tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace, and experience in the financial services industry is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- SQL Server Management: Install, configure, and administer Microsoft SQL Server databases, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and high availability.
- Query Optimization and Tuning: Write and optimize SQL queries to improve database performance, focusing on efficient data retrieval and transaction processing.
- Database Backup and Recovery: Manage backup, restore, and recovery plans to ensure data protection and disaster recovery.
- Security Management: Implement and maintain database security protocols, access controls, and encryption, following best practices and compliance standards.
- Automation and Scripting: Develop PowerShell and Python scripts for automating routine database tasks, file processing, and report generation to enhance productivity.
- Performance Monitoring: Use monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, and SQL Server Profiler to track database health, detect performance issues, and conduct root cause analysis.
- Technical Product Implementations: Support and perform SQL DBA and Windows Server administration for technical product deployments, ensuring smooth integration with existing systems.
- Cross-Platform Database Support: Provide support for IBM Db2 and other database platforms as needed, ensuring a cohesive data infrastructure.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with infrastructure, development, and business teams to align database solutions with organizational goals and support stability.
Qualifications/Skillset:
- Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator with a focus on performance tuning, automation, and data security.
- Proficiency in SQL Query Language, PowerShell scripting, and database performance monitoring.
- Knowledge of Windows Server and basic network connectivity troubleshooting.
- Experience in automation using PowerShell or Python.
- Experience with monitoring tools like Splunk and Dynatrace is preferred.
