Job Description

Job Summary: The Technician I will install test equipment in development vehicles such as thermocouples, transducers, sensors, fiberoptics, accelerometers. The role will build, modify, adjust and calibrate installed devices. This role will build and install low voltage wire harnesses to drawings and schematics Technician I will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Build and install low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring harnesses, auxiliary battery and electrical systems. Install, adjust and calibrate sensors, shunts, fiber optics, accelerometers and data acquisition systems. Collaborate with Customers, Fabricators, and Mechanics to identify required locations for sensor installation according to Instrumentation Requirement List (IRL).

Assist in performing complete functional inspection and prove-out of instrumentation according to Instrumentation Quality Assurance (IQA).

Diagnose faulty low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring systems and repair. Work with electronic functional and measurement tools, such as power supplies, function generators, and multimeter. Maintain records by entering notes into service repair requests. Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs. Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up.


Education and Experience (required):

High school diploma or equivalent.

1 year of mechanic experience, personal or professional.


Education and Experience (preferred):

Certificate in Automotive Technology or related.

National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s).

State Mechanic Certification(s).

Valid driver s license.

Experience performing soldering, crimping, tube bending, component layout and packaging on vehicles or subsystems.


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (required):

Able to follow procedures or work instructions provided for assigned projects, such as work requests, shop procedures and shop manuals, publications or schematic diagrams.

Good organizational skills and works well independently and as part of a team.

Good communication and time management skills.

Able to work overtime and weekends.

Good attention to detail.


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (preferred):

Knowledge of proper installation of thermocouples and pressure transducers.
