Job Details

Modern Technology Solutions Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Digital Architect Lead to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) to the United States Space Force (USSF) in support of the Operational Command and Control (C2) Acquisition Delta responsible for developing software and the supporting architecture for the organize, understand, plan, decide, direct, and monitor capabilities within the C2 Joint Capability Areas (JCAs). The candidate will be responsible for working with the customer and stakeholders to achieve project goals and ensure code quality, conduct code reviews, and oversee technical details by other contractors on the project(s). The successful candidate will possess excellent problem solving skills, initiative, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:
  • Leading digital initiatives and teams, applying creative and adaptive thought, and providing technical leadership to internal and external development teams.
  • Collaborating with all stakeholders to understand operational requirements and ensuring these are reflected in the digital design.
  • Providing technical leadership and consultancy to internal and external development teams, ensuring infrastructure is fit for its purpose.
  • Defining and documenting standard operating procedures and work instructions needed to carry out the work and inspect outputs.
  • Leading and promoting the architectural alignment, consistency, and component re-use across the portfolio, balancing the velocity of change against longer-term impacts.
  • Designing and implementing a digital architecture across a variety of platforms and systems.
  • Developing project timelines and cost estimates.
  • Providing technical leadership to ensure that projects overall technical designs meet user needs and acceptance criteria, while allowing for time and budget constraints.
  • Assessing and selecting appropriate software or cloud-based solutions.
  • Understanding and considering the architectural challenges or risks within projects and the consequences and implications of those risks.
  • Participating in strategic technology initiatives to build and maintain key elements of the enterprise architecture strategy.
  • Advising product managers on the estimated effort and technical implications of current user stories, as well as those in the backlog.
  • Ensuring all architecture activities and processes comply with industry best practices and organizational policies.
Qualifications:

Required Experience:
  • At least 14 years of experience in digital architecture, IT architecture, network engineering, or related role.
  • At least 2 years of Special Access Program (SAP) experience in the last 5 years.
  • Experience leading technical teams and delivering user focused services.
  • Proven experience in software development and system architecture.
  • Intimate familiarity with DevSecOps implementation and employment.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines executing in parallel, representing different unique artifacts being produced.
  • Familiarity with Mattermost, Jira, Jira Align, Confluence, and Outlook.
  • Strong understanding of software application, enterprise architecture, and IT infrastructure.
  • Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of analysts, developers, data scientists, operators, and subject-matter experts.
  • Possess strong analytic skills and be capable of operating in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to provide briefings to program office staff about ongoing efforts.

Education and Certification Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • M.S. degree in a related field may substitute for two years of experience

Security Clearance Level Required:
  • Top Secret, SCI eligible (please note: U.S. Citizenship is required).
  • Eligibility for access to SAP Information.

Location/Travel Requirements:
  • Place of work is El Segundo, CA area, remote work opportunity is limited.
  • May require travel up to 20% of time within the continental United States.

The pay range for this position in California is $190,000/year to $225,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract wages, job- related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
