Description:
TEKsystems is in need of a Lead DAS Technician and a CO Technician for our client in the Timonium, MD market! This client specializes in 4 major telecommunications categories- LMR (Land Mobile Radio, IBS (in building systems, IDAS), ITS (Intelligent transportation systems), and Physical Security. They have a number of In building projects that they will work on over the next few years, this includes the construction and maintenance of in-building wireless access points. They are currently supporting projects in the Federal, State and Local government, and education, transportation, and healthcare field. They have done work with Johns Hopkins, WAMATA, BWI, Ronald Regan Building, and Baltimore Subway systems.
This scope specifically is for the BWI central office stand up. BWI project start up is happening now and to the end of the year. Experience with AT&T, carrier site builds, tower, DAS, radio builds, etc. are preferred. As well as team management, task orders, work delegation, daily work scopes, etc. This project will go on for at least 2.5 years and they plan to cross utilize techs as needed on other AT&T-based projects.
Job Responsibilities:
  • They are looking for 1 Lead DAS/ CO Technician that has had 2+ years of experience specific within the wireless space and 1+ years leading a team.
  • The technician must also have lead cable experience.
  • They will be managing crews of up to 5 technicians depending on the job.
  • This person must have low volt coax install, testing, troubleshooting, rack and stacking, dressing and labeling experience.
  • They should also have some fiber experience. Testing, terminating, pulling, splicing is a plus, but not necessary.
  • The majority of DAS systems they install are coax and fiber based.
  • They would also like this technician to be able to train other technicians in the field, be it DAS training, cable training, or working through specific carrier expectations.
  • If they have experience managing DAS or WAP construction that is a fast track to Construction Management and or Project Management in the future. This includes working with 1/2" coax, OEM's like: Corning, Commscope, SOLiD, ADRF, Mobile Access...etc
  • They will be working day to day with the construction manager, performing sitewalks, reviewing blueprints, redlines for any modifications for design, delegating jobs to techs based off of their individual strengths, inventory management day to day, and making sure the construction sites are cleaned when leaving.
  • There will be a 40 hour work week, with some projects providing an opportunity for overtime as well as prevailing wage.
  • The DAS teams main office is located in Timonium Maryland, however jobs are aligned based off of where the technician is located. The lead may need to travel further distances as they have a heavy amount of projects in Washington DC.
