Software Engineering Manager

About the Role

The Software Engineering Manager leads agile technology teams focused on building and operating applications and systems for clients and consumers. This role is responsible for an application or application suite, including:
  • Developing new features and enhancements
  • Defect fixes and troubleshooting
  • Release planning and deployment
  • Infrastructure maintenance and production support


The Software Engineering Manager is a people-first leader, overseeing teams responsible for application development, with direct reports including Software Engineers, System Analysts, and Quality Assurance Analysts. They foster growth across all aspects of the development cycle and maintain a strong technical background to adopt new technologies, enhance development practices, and ensure high-quality software delivery with accelerated speed to market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor agile development teams to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Drive associate engagement, coaching, and performance management.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for product/domain areas when collaborating with product owners, business stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and delivery of large-scale software initiatives.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, including Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure, and application development.
  • Establish monitoring and production support procedures, perform root cause analysis, and improve operations documentation.
  • Manage team budgets, resource planning, and staffing needs.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:
    • 4-6 years of relevant experience in software engineering and application development.
    • Strong leadership experience in managing and mentoring teams.
    • Expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
    • Experience with microservices architecture and cloud-based platforms.
    • Hands-on experience managing projects, budgets, and resources.

Technical Skills & Expertise
  • High Proficiency: C#, .NET, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Mulesoft, Azure DevOps
  • Medium Proficiency: AI technologies
  • Additional Experience:
    • Designing and building scalable infrastructure and web services.
    • Full-stack development experience.
    • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms and container services (AWS/Google Cloud Platform/Azure).
