Infra Platforms Engineer

Role:

Technology leader reporting to head of Enterprise Middleware Services. Responsible for leading team's project engagements on web application platforms and services. The member will be responsible for building and enhancing middleware platforms used by hundreds of application teams across the enterprise for stability, resiliency, security and agility. The ideal candidate combines their passion for web application technologies, middleware infrastructure and cloud services to engineer middleware solutions that abstract infrastructure complexity for business teams.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop and maintain middleware platforms in a large enterprise environment.

Enhance existing platform features and services in order to meet evolving enterprise standards and business needs.

Establish middleware platforms technical roadmap and drive execution.

Develop platform standards on on-prem, private and public cloud infrastructure.

Deliver middleware services on Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) projects. Oversee consulting vendors and ensure they follow established project and middleware standards.

Confident, self-motivated and willing to take ownership on operations issues and accountability on project engagements.

Facilitate regulatory requirements such as audit and access reviews; operations requirements such as vulnerability and capacity management.

Create Support processes and documentation. Ensure operations responsibility is adequately fulfilled by vended managed services provider.

Provide L3/L4 escalation support on production issues.

Requirements:

In-depth understanding of web application architectures and, their functional and non-functional requirements - network, server, storage, security, session management, caching, data, messaging, b2b integrations.

Experience with application migrations across platform technologies and from on-prem to cloud.

Experience designing and standardizing requirements such as development tools, code scans, code migrations, application security, monitoring & alerting, centralized logging.

Experience managing operational requirements such as patching, capacity planning, security vulnerability remediation, DR execution, access reviews, audit compliance and change management.

Well versed in utilizing code repositories such as git, performing code builds and creating code migration processes.

Experience with release automation or code migrations tools such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, the Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Confluence), CA Release Automation (Nolio).

Expert level knowledge of Apache web server, Tomcat and WebLogic. WebSphere is preferred.

Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience creating and running middleware platforms or applications in Azure or AWS cloud.

Proven experience in shell scripting, Python and Java.

Experience troubleshooting functional and performance issues. Ability to isolate and determine root cause; research and implement fixes.

Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related technical field. Ten years of experience as a middleware architect or engineer building and supporting multi-tier highly distributed middleware platforms.

Self-starter and works effectively with minimal direction

Excellent organizational skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast paced environment.

Awareness of security implementations and concepts such as SSO, SAML, OAuth and JWT.

Experience working on projects using Agile Scrum practices. Experience with tools such as Azure DevOps Boards.

Development of CI/CD pipelines and test automation with tools such as GitHub Actions and Azure Test Plans respectively.

Experience developing Infrastructure as Code.

Familiarity with content acceleration utilizing products such as Amazon CloudFront or Akamai.

Knowledge of ITSM standards and change management. Experience with Service Now tool.

Any certification in Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, DevOps, Scripting, Coding, Linux, WebLogic/WebSphere product administration, Agile or Scrum, web application development, Spring.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

8+ years of experience in systems design, development and as SME of critical production systems.

4+ years of experience with DevOps and Cloud solutions.
