The Senior Analyst (Loss Forecasting) position is responsible for forecasting portfolio and charge offs. Responsibilities include analyzing portfolio performance using empirical measurements and working with the quantitative models to develop accurate loss forecasts that will achieve management objectives with respect to maintaining an adequate loss reserves according to CECL regulations. This position is also responsible for the coordination and development of internal data sets for use in vendor CECL loss forecast models, which Includes the retrieval, organization and cleaning of data from disparate sources. This position requires extensive knowledge of modeling and forecasting techniques using analytical software such as SAS, R, Python, SQL and related applications as well as excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates development of internal data sets for use in vendor CECL loss forecast models. Includes the retrieval, organization and cleaning of data from disparate sources.
  • Provides management with interpretation of model performance, including the strengths and weaknesses of quantitative approaches. Makes recommendations to executive management for CECL based reserve amounts and identifies appropriate Qualitative Adjustment factors.
  • Prepares and maintains documentation for vendor model calibration efforts. Executes and maintains controls surrounding the CECL reserve generation. Prepares responses to questions from reviewers and regulators, including conducting the need quantitative analysis.
  • Provides executive management with analysis and rationale for monthly CECL loss forecasts by segment.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor s degree in Math, Quantitative Analysis, Statistics, Business Finance, Economics or other quantitative discipline is required.
  • Five (5) years proven credit analysis using SAS, Python or similar analytical software is required. Credit card or consumer credit portfolio management experience is preferred.

Summary of Qualifications:

  • Experience in credit risk/loss modeling is required. Experience with logistic regression models is preferred.
  • Experience with credit bureau data and systems is preferred.
  • Previous banking or lending experience preferred.
  • Experience with Compliance audits / internal audits preferred.
  • Experience in loan portfolio delinquency and charge off analysis, forecasting under a CECL framework.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, verbal/written presentation skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems knowledge.
  • Success as a competent troubleshooter.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and to meet appropriate deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Foster company success through a professional appearance, being courteous to internal customers and associates, having a positive attitude, and being a team player.
  • Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with essential job functions.
