Position Description:
deciBel Research, Inc. is seeking a Senior System Administrator to join our team. This role is crucial in supporting and enhancing our IT infrastructure, ensuring the stability and security of our systems.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform day-to-day system administration tasks for both hardware and software components within a classified environment.
- Participate in the design, architecture development, documentation of IT systems, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
- Set up, configure, and deploy servers, workstations, and desktop devices.
- Install and configure both Linux and Windows operating systems, applications, and software updates.
- Implement automated provisioning tools and processes to streamline system deployments.
- Monitor system performance and ensure the reliability and availability of IT infrastructure.
- Perform regular system upgrades, patches, and security updates.
- Manage and maintain backups, disaster recovery plans, and data integrity.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant security standards and best practices.
- Perform security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing.
- Participate in the configuration and troubleshooting of networking components, support networks, and connected devices.
- Participate in the configuration management process and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Track and report on system performance, security incidents, and compliance status
- Create and maintain user manuals and IT policies.
- Ensure consistent technical direction and understanding among staff members, maintaining uniform IT processes, practices, and documentation across the system.
- Interface with other team members and senior leaders, acting as the liaison to the program helpdesk, and supporting requests for onsite support from team members.
- Assist in defining schedules, assigning and executing tasks, and monitoring completion to ensure integration and checkout activities are on track.
- Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the program.
Education Requirements:
Associate Degree or higher in a related technical field.
Experience Requirements:
- 5 years' experience performing as a Sr. System Administrator, particularly in a classified environment.
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
- CompTIA Security+ Certification.
- Expertise in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Experience with conducting vulnerability scans and remediating identified vulnerabilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to respond to technical issues promptly.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with team members and senior leaders effectively.
- Familiarity with DISA STIG requirements.
Special Skills Desired:
- CompTIA Network+ Certification.
- Cisco CCNA Certification.
- Active TS/SCI.
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
