Job Description
The City of Tomball is accepting applications for the position of IT Systems Administrator. This position ensures optimal performance of the City's technology systems. With a focus on assisting various City departments, the technician handles installations, maintenance, and administration of diverse technology systems, ranging from software and desktops to Mobile Data Terminals (MDT) and network components. Ensuring uninterrupted functionality, especially for public safety departments, is paramount.

Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
Education Associates (Related Field) and or work experience in the field.
Experience Minimum of 5 years previous relevant work experience is required.
Certifications CJIS Certification
Licensing Driver's License
IT Systems Administrator functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Infrastructure Maintenance and Administration: Assist in the installation, administration, and maintenance of the City's IT infrastructure, encompassing servers, networks, security, software, and desktops.
- Experience with Mobile Computing: Maintain and troubleshoot mobile computing for cell phones and vehicles. Ensure all devices and software are continuously updated and functional to support public safety operations.
- Helpdesk and Troubleshooting: Address and resolve current and outstanding helpdesk requests. Prioritize issues to minimize user downtime and enhance system efficiency.
- Software Support: Handle new user account setups and troubleshoot issues for the city wide software platform.
- Azure/Windows Active Directory: Create and manage user profiles in Windows Active Directory to facilitate secure and personalized user access.
- File Share Management: Manage user permissions for file and folder access, ensuring data security and appropriate access levels.
- Computer Configuration: Assemble and set up computers, installing necessary software and hardware tailored to user job requirements.
- Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

- CJIS certification or ability to obtain the same, ensuring compliant access to sensitive databases.
- Knowledge of contemporary IT systems, networks, software platforms, and best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to quickly diagnose and rectify issues.
- Documentation skills a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple systems efficiently.
- Understanding of data security protocols and user access management.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with various city departments and assist users effectively.
- Organizational skills for managing helpdesk requests, user profiles, and inventory.
- Proficiency in Windows Active Directory & Azure and associated user management tasks.
- Ability to learn new processes and procedures in a practical manner.

Windows OS, Windows Server, Azure Management, Veeam Server, Office 365 suite, PuTTy, Command Prompt, Network Analyzer tool, Basic Household tools (Screwdriver, Drill etc...)

- The work is typically performed indoors in an office setting.
- Self starter that can work with little to no direction.
- Consistent workflow and reliable outcomes.
- May rarely be exposed to uncomfortable temperatures, humidity, noise, chemicals/gases, contagious diseases, airborne particles/pathogens, and/or physical trauma.
- May be required to work in confined spaces.
- Work may potentially involve risk of exposure to electric shock.

SALARY:
Hiring Range: $64,854 - $68,097 ($31.18 - $32.74)
Salary Range: $64,854 - $97,302
**Starting salary is dependent on experience and qualifications**
