Position: System Engineer
Location: Secaucus, NJ (Day 1 Onsite)
Type: Long Term Contract

Top Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, information systems, computer science, or related technical fields
  • Master's degree in above technical areas or MBA preferred
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in an IT leadership role with oversight of technical and management staff.
  • Knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, wireless networks, firewalls, DNS, SD-WAN and VoIP

Job summary:
As a System Engineer you will leverage your expertise in VMware Public Cloud Admin, VMWare Cloud Foundation, and AIX Administration to support and enhance our geospatial data infrastructure. With a hybrid work model and occasional travel, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our geospatial systems, contributing to impactful projects that benefit society.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all aspects of systems infrastructure for client's expanding footprint within the five boroughs of NYC and Long Island as well as partner with the New Jersey and downstate NY teams where appropriate.
  • Oversee and guide systems engineering staff as well as serve as a technical lead across multiple IT disciplines such as network engineering, telecommunications and clinical applications where appropriate.
  • Aide in creation and management of fiscal capital and operating budgets for IT infrastructure and partner with
  • other leaders in development of other IT budgets when required.
  • Will ensure operational consistently for all policy, process, and procedure through continual service improvement, gap analysis, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with vendors to produce quotes and create order requisitions in the procurement platform for approval by Senior IT Leadership.
  • Coordinate staff coverage for business hours and after hours on call rotation.
  • Will serve as a Tier 2/Tier 3 technical resource for advanced design and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Will lead or track systems infrastructure projects involving all infrastructure design and implementation, including data center and cloud optimization, and systems modernization.
  • Direct reports will include only technical staff.
  • Conduct annual as well as quarterly, goal-driven performance evaluations of all direct reports.
  • Supervisor will be expected to continuously evaluate regarding the systems infrastructure, team skills, and industry best practice.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and serve as a mentor to individual contributors.
  • Work with senior leaders across IT and operations teams to create alignment of business needs to systems infrastructure requirements.
