Lead Technical Program Manager with Top Mass Media & Entertainment Company

Location: New York, NY (Likely 3-4 days per week on-site)

Rate: up to $95.00/HR
This is a Lead Technical Program Manager (TPM) position within the Production Platforms - Shared Services organization. The Lead Technical Program Manager will focus on the planning and execution of programs related to the internal developer platform - tools and services for scale offered to internal engineers across.

Our TPMs partner with engineering managers and play a critical role in structuring and executing impactful cross-org initiatives. TPMs have a high degree of technical literacy and a desire to learn more, both within their teams product space and across the wider department. Ideal candidates must be highly proactive, detail-oriented, possess the ability to work through unknowns, identify paths to success to ensure delivery, and be able to autonomously work on multiple, critical assignments that span the department.

Additionally, this position will act as a leader within the organization helping to improve processes, pragmatically applying agile best practices as needed. A Lead TPM must use their experience to deliver large scale projects, identifying and proactively mitigate risks to delivery. Effectively communicating the status and partnering with stakeholders to ensure alignment on expectations will be crucial. Building trust with all levels of the organization will also be essential.

- Effectively define and represent projects goals and plan; develop fundamental technical understanding of the project deliverables
- Promote and advocate for tools and projects within your domain, educating the larger organization on their value

- Enhance team throughput by removing roadblocks and leveraging organizational connections while helping to drive teams towards commitments
- Track progress against deliverables and work closely with the team to ensure on-time delivery
- Share concise and effective status information across multiple reporting formats to keep stakeholders informed and proactively communicate risks, forecasts, and dependencies
- Facilitate technical and stakeholder meetings; follow the discussions in order to summarize and capture outcomes
- Foster cross-team coordination and communication
- Identify, maintain, and visualize metrics to guide the project lifecycle
- Assist with estimation and planning of team resourcing, in conjunction with engineering team manager
- Navigate competing and dynamic priorities, balance competing requests with agility
- Effectively communicate to all levels of the organization
- Coach and mentor other program managers and project teams
Basic qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience manage large scale technical projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, developing and executing project plans and delivery commitments with many cross team dependencies
- Deep rooted passion and proven track record building motivated and collaborative teams
- Detail oriented and excellent communication skills; ability to follow technical discussions and absorb technical documentation. Being able to distill technical items to communicate effectively to non-technical audiences
- Track record of creating lasting professional relationships with diverse stakeholders, maturing team s current engagements and advocating for future work
- Experience in leading teams through improvement via process re-engineering
- Demonstrated tenacity and comfortable with ambiguity, having good problem solving skills and critical thinking
- Tools expertise including Atlassian Suite, Google Suite, and Slack or similar
- Experience working with distributed teams and/or distributed organizations
- Working understanding of cloud based development and a desire to know more
Preferred qualifications:
- Exposure to modern DevOps and SRE practices around CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Availability, etc
- Experience with containers/microservices in highly scalable cloud based applications
- Prior experience as a software engineer
- Experience working on software for the media/entertainment industry
- Experience providing and supporting services and tools for other teams within your organization, and managing stakeholder s needs
- Business Development experience

Self-starter/Proactive - must be able to begin to add value to teams with little training and figure out how best to support the engineering manager and team
Organized - must manage meetings, understand/report on the status of deliverables, identifying and helping to mitigate risks
Technical Acumen - must be comfortable in technical meetings with engineers, helping ensure the team reaches a conclusion, and following up on associated action items
Change agent - Experience building the trust of the org to help implement change/process improvements when they are identified as needed, and looking for creative ways to use the available project management tooling to automate where necessary
