Our mission is realized through an API-based platform, empowering our partners to offer seamless investing and trading experiences to clients worldwide, all from their mobile devices.

Our technology provides partners with a modern, extensible toolkit, enabling traditional investment workflows and innovative techniques like fractional share ownership. DriveWealth has evolved into a global platform offering trading of US equities, mutual funds, ETFs, fixed income, and options.

We seek enthusiastic professionals to contribute diverse perspectives and experiences to our Brokerage-as-a-Service platform. Our culture blends the pace and opportunity of a tech start-up with the impact, stability, and significance of Wall Street. We encourage creativity and experimentation while ensuring institutional-grade execution and regulatory compliance in everything we do. We value diversity and inclusion, celebrating the unique differences of our employees as we scale and grow together. We're guided by operating principles grounded in accountability, teamwork, integrity, and solutions built to scale. Join us!

About the Role:

The Senior Software Engineer on the Money Movement team works collaboratively with our engineers and business teams to build next generation features and enhancements to our API and money movement platforms, and helps our clients build innovative investing solutions at scale.

With DriveWealth at a growth inflection point, the opportunities of this role are two fold: our growing volumes translate to interesting technical challenges related to scale. With this, there is also an opportunity to gain deeper knowledge of the money movement side of finance.

What You'll Do:

  • Hands-on software development as you grow to understand how we handle various money flows
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders
  • Work with the Money Movement team to architect and design new systems
  • Maintain and enhance existing systems
  • Work with vendor banking-as-a-service APIs
  • Deeply understand real-world money movement workflows in the banking industry and automate manual operational processes

What You'll Need:

  • At least 6-8 years of experience in backend software development using OOP/Functional principles and Java
  • Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs
  • Experience in a good number of the following: Spring Boot, OpenAPI, message queuing frameworks (AMQ, Kinesis, SQS, Kafka, etc.), distributed caching (we use Redis), DynamoDB (or similar), PostGres (or similar)
  • Active development experience in a cloud based microservices environment (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
  • Experience with compute/container platforms such as AWS EC2, K8s is highly preferred
  • Experience with Git and Github, gitflow and git actions
  • A high bar for quality of code and work to eliminate unnecessary duplication and awkward workarounds.
  • Passion for engineering practices and discipline: code reviews, automated testing, logging, monitoring, alerting, etc.
  • Understanding of software systems architecture, understanding of design decisions and tradeoffs, collaborating design ideas
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written

Nice to Have, But Not Required:

  • Experience with financial backend systems
  • Experience with leading teams or mentoring
  • Experience working on performance fine-tuning

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. DriveWealth is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
