Job Details

The CX IT Support - System Administrator will manage and maintain a complex IT environment that includes IBM i OS, Series Power 8, 9, and 10 servers in a hosted solution setting. The role involves overseeing system administration across three locations: the main office in Sulphur Springs, the Data Center at SSPD, and the Disaster Recovery site at Franklin County PD. This individual will also manage VMware virtual environments, FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitches, and implement backup, failover, and archival solutions leveraging Veem NAS storage.VM

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

System Administration

  • Maintain and manage IBM iSeries Power 8, 9, and 10 servers.
  • Perform system upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance.
  • Monitor server health, performance, and availability, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Manage user profiles, access rights, and system configurations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues promptly.

Network and Security Management

  • Manage FortiGate firewalls and FortiSwitches to ensure network security and performance.
  • Implement and enforce network policies, including access control and data security protocols.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits.

Virtualization

  • Administer VMware environments, including provisioning, updates, and system optimization.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness in virtualized environments.

Backup and Disaster Recovery

  • Design and manage robust backup strategies, ensuring compliance with business continuity requirements.
  • Regularly test failover capabilities and DR plans for all systems.
  • Manage and optimize NAS storage for backups, archives, and operational needs.

Collaboration and Support

  • Act as the primary point of contact for IT support issues across all three locations.
  • Work closely with internal teams and vendors to resolve issues promptly.
  • Provide training and documentation to ensure end-user proficiency and adherence to best practices.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and incident resolutions.
  • Provide regular reports on system performance, security, and project statuses.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):

  • 5+ years of experience managing IBM i Series servers (Power 8, 9, and 10 preferred).
  • Ability to travel between the main office, sspd data center, and franklin county pd as needed.
  • On-call availability for emergencies and critical system maintenance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience with VMware, FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitches, and NAS solutions in a hosted or multi-site environment.
