Job Description

Staff Software Engineer - Drivers, Diagnostic, & Embedded Software (San Diego, CA)

You have the opportunity to work on the development of Intravascular Ultrasound Systems. As a member of a cross-functional team, you will work closely together with electrical engineers, transducer engineers, software engineers, system engineers, and ultrasound engineers.

Your role:

  • Being a key contributor to the development of medical capital equipment
  • Architect, design, and develop driver, diagnostic, and embedded software for intravascular ultrasound systems.
  • Interfacing with multi-disciplinary teams consisting of marketing, hardware, software, catheter design, and manufacturing to refine design requirements for next generation intravascular ultrasound devices.
  • Create software requirement specifications, software architecture documents, and detailed software design documents.
  • Design, develop, and debug driver software and embedded software to implement communication between hardware and application software using C and/or C++.


You're the right fit if:

  • You have 8 + years of experience in software/embedded software development, preferably in the field of medical electronics.
  • You are experienced with object-oriented programming languages design, and coding. (C/C++.
  • You earned a BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
  • You've gained industry experience creating detailed design documentation (specifications, design descriptions, verification and testing plans). Having knowledge of digital signal and image processing would be a plus, as would knowledge of CUDA with such applications.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position .

Philips Transparency Details

The pay range for this position is $117,200 to $201,600, annually. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered.
