About the position:
This position involves coordinating multiple research efforts affiliated with the faculty at the Cognition and Cortical Dynamics Laboratory at the Institute for Learning & Brain Sciences. The aim of our research is to understand the relationship between human cognition and brain function. The Research Coordinator will be involved in all aspects of this research, funded by multiple national and private agencies, from development of paradigms through data dissemination.

Duties include:

Launch or develop phases of new research projects (30% of time):
  • Draft and/or modify Human Subjects applications
  • Manage outreach program for subject recruitment
  • Identify and purchase and/or adapt equipment, and re-configure lab space as needed
  • Assist in the design and development of experimental protocols and ensure that students, post docs and staff are properly trained, as needed, to execute these protocols.

    Facilitate/coordinate data collection and analysis (20% of time):
  • Assist in the collection of neuroimaging and behavioral data
  • Assign and coordinate data collection duties of students and staff
  • Create and manage a database system for archiving stimuli and data from research projects
  • Review data entry to ensure accuracy
  • Prepare data for analysis; perform preliminary analyses using spreadsheet, statistical, and graphical software; supervise students, post docs and staff on such techniques

    Interpret data and prepare results for dissemination (20% of time):
  • Proof read publications, presentations, and proposals and provide graphic information
  • Develop conclusions about data based on analyses
  • Provide oral and written presentations of preliminary results

    Assist in development of research proposals (5% of time):
  • Define research problems, identify hypotheses, and determine appropriate methodology

    Fiscal activities (10% of time):
  • Supervise subject payment via voucher system
  • Identify and order research equipment and supplies as needed, including investigating the best price available and maintaining relationships with vendors

    Administrative activities (10% of time):
  • Conduct literature reviews, retrieve articles and publications, monitor literature for new citations
  • Prepare dissemination materials including PowerPoint presentations, graphics and posters
  • Inventory all products related to research and maintenance of multiple research labs

    Lead Responsibilities (5%)
  • Assign duties to undergraduate students working in the lab for academic credit, hourly employees, and research assistants; provide training in specific methods for conducting experiments and analyzing results, evaluate performance and provide feedback.

    Minimum Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Education or related field.
  • Must have two to three years research experience working with human subjects.

    Additional Requirements:
  • Project management experience, as well as facility with data analysis software such as R, Python, or SPSS.
