APS Technology is searching for an experienced, Sr. Firmware Engineer. Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, the Sr. Firmware Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing embedded software that is integral to APS s products operating in harsh environments (temperatures up to 350°ree;F, pressures up to 20,000 psi, and high shock and vibration).

Other responsibilities include designing and developing bare-metal firmware sensors and control systems, testing, troubleshooting and enhancing existing firmware, supporting manufacturing and field service personnel to ensure products meet performance reliability specifications and conduct and/or participant in multidisciplinary technical reviews of products and issues as well as write project update reports and final reports.

In this position, the right candidate will work closely with Electrical Engineering on product improvements and new designs and participate in the software development process, including requirements gathering, coding standards, source code control, project estimation and scheduling, and design reviews.

We are searching for a candidate who holds a BSEE, BSCS, BSCE, or other engineering with equivalent experience with 10+ years of experience in embedded development. Other desired skills include solid programming experience in C on microcontrollers, knowledge of Freescale, PIC, or ARM processors and communication protocols such as CAN, RS-485, SPI, I2C, etc., experience debugging software and hardware and reading electrical schematics and IC datasheets, hands-on experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, digital analyzers, multimeters, and DAQs.

In addition, the ideal candidate will possess project and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple, competing tasks with minimal supervision, be able to demonstrate an inventive, creative approach to problem solving and have strong written and oral communication skills.
