UW Continuum College has an exciting opportunity for a Technology Infrastructure Specialist.

About the Position
As a Technology Infrastructure Specialist, you are central to both maintaining and enhancing our IT infrastructure. Your role will be split between project-driven tasks and advanced support responsibilities. On the project side, you will manage deployments, automate processes using PowerShell, and design scalable, secure cloud solutions across Azure, AWS (Amazon Web Services), and Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). This includes optimizing resources to meet business needs and proactive system monitoring to ensure high performance and reliability.

Support duties will involve resolving complex technical issues at the Tier 2 and Tier 3 levels, requiring a deep understanding of our systems and the ability to troubleshoot effectively under pressure. You will also play a crucial role in maintaining our security standards, conducting thorough assessments, and integrating best practices to safeguard our systems against emerging threats.

Your comprehensive skill set should include expertise in Microsoft SQL for database management and a basic understanding of web development to support our data and web teams. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks like FERPA will be helpful in ensuring compliance across our operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

System Management and Monitoring
System and Application Monitoring: Implement solutions to monitor the health and performance of applications and infrastructure, using tools that enable real-time analysis and alerting to prevent issues.
Data Storage Management: Manage a range of database technologies to ensure data integrity, security, and performance, including both SQL and NoSQL databases.
Plan and implement system upgrades and rollouts.

Cloud and Infrastructure Services
Cloud Infrastructure and Services: Design and manage cloud solutions on platforms like Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform to create resilient, cost-efficient environments, focusing on optimal resource use and security.
Infrastructure Support and Management: Support and manage on-premises infrastructure, including server hardware and SAN solutions, ensuring efficient operation and capacity planning.
Oversee the operation, maintenance, and procedures of the company's data center, ensuring optimal efficiency and security.

Resilience and Continuity
High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Develop and manage solutions for high availability and disaster recovery to minimize disruptions and data loss, including managing failover mechanisms and backup strategies.

Automation and Scripting
Scripting and Automation: Automate deployment, management, and operational tasks using advanced scripting languages like PowerShell and Bash, including script development for automated monitoring and alerting.

Security and Compliance
Security and Compliance: Implement and manage security measures and protocols, conduct regular security audits, and oversee firewalls and intrusion detection systems to strengthen infrastructure security.

Policy and Documentation
Policy Development and Documentation: Create and document IT policies and procedures that align with strategic objectives and compliance standards, supporting clear guidelines for architectural and operational practices.

Qualifications and Skills
We are looking for a highly skilled Technology Infrastructure Specialist who excels in a variety of IT environments, with a strong grasp of both broad and specific technical competencies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, and 3 years of experience in the technical skills listed below or equivalent experience.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Technical Skills:
Database Management: Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server with capabilities in database administration, performance tuning, and recovery processes. Additional experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL is beneficial.
Scripting and Automation: Expert in PowerShell for automating deployment, configuration, and management tasks. Knowledge of Python and Bash is a plus.
Web Server and Development: Experienced in managing Microsoft IIS and familiar with web development technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and .NET.
On-prem hardware support: In a hybrid systems environment including MS Windows, Linux, VMWare, Apple OS and platforms including HCI clusters, and multi-node SAN clusters.
Virtualization and Cloud Services: Skilled in virtualization technologies like VMware or Hyper-V and cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform.
Network Management and Security: Proficient in configuring and managing various networking equipment, with a deep understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, and security protocols such as SSL/TLS, IPsec, and SSH for secure communications.
Cloud and Infrastructure: Experienced in managing cloud environments with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform, focusing on secure and efficient operations.
Regulatory Compliance: Knowledgeable about FERPA and other relevant regulations, ensuring compliance across IT operations.
