Job Description

We are seeking an Optical Test Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical testing methodologies, automation, and data analysis, as well as experience with photonic components such as lasers, optical amplifiers, and integrated optical devices. This role involves designing, building, and automating optical test stations, performing comprehensive testing, and contributing to DeepSight Technologies advanced product development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement optical test stations to evaluate lasers and photonic components.
  • Automate optical test processes by writing and maintaining Python scripts to interface with test equipment, execute test suites, and record measurement data to a central database.
  • Create and maintain automated data analysis pipelines. Use test data and analysis results to provide feedback for product design improvements and validation.
  • Collaborate with cross-funcitonal teams to ensure integration of laser modules and support throughout product development lifecycle.
  • Document and report to internal members and communicate with external vendors and partners

Required Qualifications

You should have the following skills/qualities/experiences:

  • BS or above a relevant technical field (Electrical, Optics, Applied Physics, or similar)
  • 3+ years of hands-on and demonstrated experience in optical or photonic test engineering
  • Experience in laser testing (LIV, optical spectrum, linewidth, RIN) and optical components characterization (IL,RL, OFDR).
  • Experience in designing and building optical test systems for high-performance optical and photonic devices.
  • Strong understanding of data analysis techniques and ability to create automatic data pipelines.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in writing technical documentation.
  • Willing to relocate to the Santa Clara, CA area.

Preferred Qualifications

You should have the following skills/experiences:

  • MS or above a relevant technical field (Electrical, Optics, Applied Physics, or similar)
  • 5+ years of hands-on and demonstrated experience in optical or photonic test engineering
  • Strong Python coding ability
