You will use natural leadership and organizational skills and share a commitment to quality to positively impact the bold missions at Blue Origin. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will work to design, analyze, build, test, integrate, deliver, and operate fluids and propulsion subsystems on Lunar landers.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, communication skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities:
  • Work at significant technical depth on complex subsystems with minimal oversight as part of the Fluids and Propulsion Integrated Product Team (IPT)
  • Use established professional expertise to understand and apply systems engineering fundamentals across the development cycle of systems including concept development, requirements, design, analysis, validation, integrations, safety, configuration management, verification, and test
  • Integrate between fluids and propulsion subsystem and overall system level vehicle design, analysis, software, and operations
  • Understand and manage key Technical Performance Metrics for the system
  • Support the development and execution of component and subsystem analysis and tests
  • Coordinate plans for subsystem level verification test and analysis
  • Spearhead the organization and aid in preparation efforts for reviews
  • Ensure timely updates and communication of system level architecture diagrams, schematics
  • Creatively guide the team to balance the objectives of a high velocity development program while meeting the intent of standard system engineering processes
  • Tackle the diverse range fluids propulsion design engineer tasks like leading trade studies, component design/integration, 1st order analysis, test support and supplier interface as the opportunities arise
  • Mentor and educate junior Blue Origin employees on systems engineering processes and methods.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area
  • 5+ years of proven experience in fluids, propulsion, and/or aerospace systems
  • Experience with fluid/gas components i.e., solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels and instrumentation.
  • Experience with systems engineering principles, design, and testing of complex systems
  • Experience assessing mission-specific risks as a result of the status of hazard controls
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Familiarity with agile planning and Scrum
  • Proven ability to build processes necessary to get things done with minimal direction
  • Proven ability to communicate component level through system level technical matter to teammates and management

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Advanced capability in using and setting up systems engineering tools such as DOORs, Jama or Cameo

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience driving the development and validation of system requirements to ensure safety considerations are appropriately addressed
  • Experience assessing fluids and propulsion hazards and their causes to develop system safety constraints and control strategies.
  • Experience supporting early trade studies to drive design-for-system safety and reliability into the fluids and propulsion architecture.
  • Experience performing reliability analysis to identify design weaknesses and inform design improvements, such as Failure Modes and Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Experience developing and maintaining safety documentation, including safety cases, safety assessment reports, and hazard logs
  • Experience reviewing and approve engineering changes from a system safety and reliability perspective.
  • Experience performing system safety and/or reliability analyses on satellites or human-rated in-space systems
