Job Title: F5 Network Security Engineer

Client: Financial Services

Type: 3 Month Contract to Hire

Location: San Antonio, TX (must be local or open to relocating)

What You Will Do:
  • Design, implement, and manage F5 load balancers (BIG-IP, LTM, GTM, APM, ASM) to optimize application delivery and security. Managing all things F5 (security, rules, cleanup, configuration changes, updates, etc.)
  • Configure and maintain Palo Alto Networks firewalls for robust perimeter security.
  • Develop and enforce network security policies, including access control, segmentation, and threat mitigation.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network security performance using SIEM and logging tools.
  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and remediate security gaps.
  • Implement and manage SSL/TLS encryption, VPNs, and authentication protocols.
  • Assist in incident response and forensic investigations related to security breaches.


Required Experience:
  • 3+ years experience working with F5, with experience within the last 2 years.
  • Firewall experience.


Full Job Description: The Network Security Engineer is responsible for the enterprise network security infrastructure, including the design, configuration, implementation, and administration of firewall and DMZ environments, IDS/IPS environments, third-party integration, virtual private networks, and related network security environments. This role involves planning, designing, implementing, and supporting Firewall/DMZ environments, third-party environments, load balancing environments, IDS/IPS environments, and other network-related environments. The engineer will provide planning, direction, and technical expertise regarding network security for local and wide area networks, the Internet, and other network environments.

Key responsibilities include developing network security standards and creating policies/procedures for firewall and network environments, including standards for VPN, router security, and switch security. The engineer will investigate security threats reported by security vendors and IDS/IPS, providing direction to responsible teams for remediation. Additional duties include completing any other job-related tasks needed to help drive the organizations vision, fulfill its purpose, and abide by its values.

Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Management Information Systems or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Network Engineering and LAN/WAN installation & implementation experience, with the ability to solve related network, VOIP, LAN/WAN communication problems.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret complex technical documents and periodicals.
  • Ability to take responsibility and perform work utilizing independent judgment and initiative.
  • Ability to function in a high-volume environment and within time constraints while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality of sensitive information.
