Title: Senior Ab Initio Developer

Term of Employment
W2 Contract, 12 Months (Possible Extension)
This position is 100% remote. Candidates based in Maryland, Washington, DC, or Virginia are preferred, but not required.
Candidates must be comfortable considering an on-call rotation. While instances are rare with the first line production support team being able to generally handle issues, this individual should be available to handle escalations.

Overview & Responsibilities
A leading health insurance provider is seeking two Senior Ab Initio Developers to join its Enterprise Data Platform team. This team is responsible for bringing in data from multiple sources, curating it, and ensuring its successful consumption. The developers will work closely with data analysts to understand requirements and will also support infrastructure upgrades, including the ongoing migration to Linux. Additionally, they will contribute to standard ETL and data processing activities that support the organization s data products. As the company moves towards machine learning and artificial intelligence, there is a strong focus on data quality and adherence to project timelines. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, able to contribute to design discussions, and work effectively within a team-oriented environment. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to evolving technical needs, particularly as the company transitions towards AWS technologies.

Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of extensive experience in Ab Initio development, including Change Data Capture (CDC)
Hands-on experience with Cloudera Hadoop
Strong knowledge of at least one programming language, such as SQL, NoSQL, or Python
Solid understanding of database design and implementation concepts
Experience with data exchange formats and data movement principles
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and contribute to design aspects as needed

Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience in the health insurance industry
Working knowledge of Apache Hive
Familiarity with AWS services such as Glue, Aurora PostgreSQL, RedShift, and S3
Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem, including Hive, Spark, and Spark Streaming
Proficiency in PostgreSQL
