Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Desktop Integration Engineer to join our IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for the integration and management of desktop systems, software applications, and supporting infrastructure across the organization. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) for deployment and configuration, PowerShell scripting for automation and system configuration, and will be comfortable using Jira for issue tracking, change management, and coordinating tasks. You will work closely with other teams to ensure seamless integration of new software and systems, and ensure that all desktop environments are operating at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Desktop Systems Integration:
- Design, implement, and support the integration of desktop systems, applications, and hardware to ensure smooth operation and compatibility with existing IT infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new applications and tools into the desktop environment while ensuring minimal disruption to users.
- Configure, customize, and troubleshoot system settings to enable seamless integration of desktop applications and services.
SCCM Administration & Deployment:
- Utilize SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) to deploy, configure, and manage software applications, patches, and operating systems across desktops and laptops.
- Create and maintain SCCM packages for software deployments and ensure smooth integration with desktop systems.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to SCCM deployments, ensuring systems are updated and configured correctly.
Automation with PowerShell:
- Write and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktop applications and system settings.
- Develop scripts to streamline desktop provisioning, software updates, and troubleshooting processes.
- Automate routine maintenance tasks and ensure configurations are standardized across desktop environments.
Collaboration & Issue Management (Jira):
- Use Jira for tracking and managing issues, changes, and requests related to desktop systems and software deployments.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure desktop-related changes and integrations are thoroughly tested and implemented with minimal impact on users.
- Manage and prioritize incidents and service requests, ensuring timely resolution and minimal downtime.
System Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Monitor desktop systems for performance issues, application errors, and security vulnerabilities, and proactively address potential problems.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for desktop environments, resolving software, hardware, and integration-related issues.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve integration issues related to system configurations, desktop applications, and network connectivity.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of desktop system configurations, integration procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Create detailed reports on system performance, software deployment success, and troubleshooting activities for internal teams and management.
- Ensure all integration steps, issues, and solutions are documented for knowledge sharing and future reference.
Skills & Qualifications:
Essential:
- Proven experience with SCCM for software deployment, patching, and desktop configuration management.
- Strong experience with PowerShell scripting to automate tasks, deployments, and system configurations.
- Experience using Jira for issue tracking, change management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of Windows operating systems, Active Directory, and desktop environment configurations.
- Familiarity with desktop virtualization technologies and remote desktop solutions.
- Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, and desktop hardware components.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex integration issues.
Preferred:
- ITIL knowledge or certification, especially in change and incident management.
- Experience with additional automation tools or configuration management systems.
- Familiarity with MacOS or other operating systems in addition to Windows.
- Knowledge of security best practices for desktop systems and software deployment.
