Responsibilities

  • Implements engineering based solutions that conform and align to the guideposts/direction provided by the Enterprise Architecture team.
  • Participates in discussions relating to strategic planning, technical roadmap development, standards and architecture.
  • Provides feedback to the engineering manager on improving the availability, security, compliance, interoperability, performance, and cost of the WAN infrastructure.
  • Collaborates with other Infrastructure teams to develop or clarify deliverables that would be delegated to network engineering.
  • Help align support efforts between Network Engineering and other CommonSpirit Health teams, and provide escalation and resolution functions when necessary.
  • Leads and participates in proof-of-concept activities for technology assessments, communicates findings, and proposes implementation and adoption timelines.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for various network engineering disciplines and will be an escalation point for complex requests and issues.
  • Provide technical ownership for assignments as required by the Engineering Manager and work effectively with all levels of leadership.
  • Enforces adherence to IT standards in design processes and audits the production network for exceptions to these standards.
  • Provide oversight and facilitation of the CommonSpirit Health IT change management process as it applies to the Network Engineering team.
  • Mentors colleagues on the network engineering team and possesses a demeanor that is open and approachable.
  • Must be a quick learner, an innovator, adaptable to change, results-oriented, and committed to hitting milestones on an aggressive multi-year roadmap.
  • Must be able to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely to leadership.
  • Must have strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Develops policies, standards and guidelines for scripting/coding construction.
  • Oversees efforts with key vendors to understand future application product plans in conjunction with IT leadership.
  • In conjunction with the Director and/or Manager, coaches the team on personal development and develops training strategies and schedules.
  • Initiates methods and approaches to meet defined business objectives. Resolves subtle complexities that often have significant implications for a program's overall success.
  • Identify automation opportunities and implement scripted solutions.
  • Lead efforts to identify technical innovation and process improvement opportunities.
  • Provide feedback to operations regarding the design, implementation, and maintenance of monitoring and alerting processes relevant to Technology Infrastructure platforms.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to CommonSpirit Health end users, Business Stakeholders and other members of CommonSpirit Health IT.
  • Schedule and manage all performance tuning and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Utilize standard tools and methodology to develop systems and support performance metrics.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge & expertise with CommonSpirit Health business processes and routines.
  • Perform crisis management during high-severity operational incidents.
  • Perform meeting facilitation for staff, operational support and project meetings. Act as the primary lead.
  • Be available for potential onsite travel (20%) to assess facility readiness, assist with project pre-work tasks, perform network implementation work and oversee work being done by 3rd party implementation teams.
  • May require on-call coverage responsibilities.
  • Remote eligible.

Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Computer Science, Technology, or Business discipline or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional IT experience in an IT technical or infrastructure field is required, with healthcare industry experience strongly desired.
  • 7 years of experience in large complex project oversight.
  • Established understanding of Infrastructure and relative technologies.
  • Established understanding of network connectivity and protocols.
  • 10+ years of experience with Cisco Route Switch and Wireless infrastructure.
  • Experience with datacenter and MDF/IDF closet construction design (cabling, racks, power, cooling).
  • Experience or understanding of Cisco Nexus platform.
  • 7 years of experience with vendor management.
  • Proven abilities in problem management, process analysis and root cause analysis is required.
  • Experience with Cisco wireless, and strong understanding of wireless design and coverage.
  • 7 years of experience with WAN \ System Design and Integration.
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide in-depth evaluation of engineering/design and implementation services for new products, technologies and solutions to address corporate business requirements.
  • PCCT, PCNSA or PCNSE preferred.
  • PCSAE Nice to have
  • Network Engineering with an in depth knowledge of network security using firewalls and load balancers.
  • Experience with and understanding in implementing new firewall hardware using change management processes and procedures required.
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems preferred.
  • 8+ years technical project experience designing, developing, integrating, and implementing solutions to resolve complex technical and business issues preferred.
  • Coding experience and proficiency (e.g. Python, Ansible, etc) nice to have.
  • Experience in Windows Office (Work, Excel, Visio, etc) required.
  • Experience in UNIX/Linux OS and/or Cisco IOS preferred for use with our toolsets
  • 10 -15years experience in enterprise-scale Information/Network security engineering and operations required.
  • F5 experience and proficiency (LTM, ASM, DNS).
  • Firewall Experience:
    5-7 years with Palo Alto Network administration with Panorama and associated product suites.
    5-7 years with Cisco ASA firewall administration using CDO (Cisco Defense Orchestrator) or managing Cisco firewall platforms including FirePower
  • CCIE or CCNP Certification Preferred
  • Capacity to leverage strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills to recommend solutions.
  • Ability to understand technology projects and concepts as they relate to high-level business objectives, and ability to present those concepts to both IT and non-IT leadership in a concise and easily-understandable manner.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule and meet deadlines in a fast paced work environment is required.
  • Significant desire to lead and experience leading projects or others required.
  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
