Job Details

Title: Application Support Specialist
Location: Tempe, AZ (Hybrid, 3 days per week onsite)

We re looking to place a proactive problem-solver with a strong technical background with our employee-owned client. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the organization s applications to ensure they operate efficiently and reliably. Key responsibilities include installing, configuring, and upgrading applications, monitoring their performance, and resolving any technical issues that arise. You will collaborate with IT teams on projects, provide support and training for end-users, and manage relationships with application vendors.

Your role:

Application Management:


  • Manage and oversee the installation, configuration, and upgrading of software applications.
  • Continuously monitor application performance, availability, and responsiveness, optimizing where needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application-related issues and bugs.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for each application, including configuration, updates, and procedures.
  • Monitor system capacity and prepare for future changes or growth.
  • Ensure regular backups of application data in line with organizational policies.
  • Develop, test, and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure quick recovery in the event of failure.

System Integration:


  • Collaborate with the Development Team to support seamless integration of applications with other systems and services.
  • Manage data flow between applications and handle any necessary data migration tasks.

Security and Compliance:


  • Manage and enforce user access controls and permissions.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and relevant external regulations.
  • Regularly apply security patches and updates to protect applications from vulnerabilities.

Project Management:


  • Lead or contribute to application deployment projects, including planning, execution, and post-deployment support.
  • Work with other IT teams and departments to ensure that application requirements are met and aligned with business objectives.

User Support and Training:


  • Act as an escalation point for advanced application-related issues.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions and materials for end-users and IT staff as needed.

Vendor Management:


  • Serve as the primary point of contact for application vendors for support and service issues.
  • Evaluate and recommend third-party applications or services to improve business operations.

Process Improvement:


  • Advocate for best practices in application management and administration.
  • Identify opportunities to improve application processes and workflows.
  • Contribute to the application strategy and roadmap to align with organizational objectives.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies to ensure applications remain current and competitive.

What you ve got:


  • 6+ years of experience in a technology-related role and a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and individuals.
  • Experience writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
  • Expertise in the installation and maintenance of mission-critical application systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills in technical environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows client/server technology.
