Senior IT Project Manager (Cybersecurity)
The Opportunity: Under our Cybersecurity program, there are several projects needed to enhance the capabilities and defense from cyber threats. A multi-year program has been launched to align and strengthen Cybersecurity processes and to build and strengthen several areas of security - IAM, GRC, Cyber Defense, and Security Engineering and Architecture. Standard project management discipline will prove extremely valuable as they continues to acquire companies in the future.
Position Summary:
The Senior IT Project Manager - Cybersecurity is responsible for planning, managing, and executing medium to large-scale cybersecurity initiatives with varying levels of scope, complexity, duration, and team size. This role will manage cross-functional project teams consisting of 10-40 business analysts, technology engineers, external consultants, and business personnel to successfully deploy solutions that enhance processes within cybersecurity, IT, and across business groups. Multiple projects will be assigned during overlapping time frames that can range from Identity and Access management to Governance, Risk, and Compliance programs and threat detection and analysis solutions. The Project Manager will follow Program Management Office (PMO) methodology to support successful project delivery and enhance communications and portfolio planning.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Project Manager (PM) leads the project planning effort, including the definition of the deliverables and the required delivery dates, creation of a logical work breakdown structure, definition of major project milestones, and accumulation of all project cost and benefit estimates. The PM also manages, prepares, and produces project management reports, timelines, budgets, and documentation. They create and manage project financials including budgeting, forecasting, actuals tracking and calculating earned value metrics. The PM identifies risks and issues and provides effective mitigation and monitors project activities and resolves/escalates issues as needed.
Skill Set Requirements:
7+ years progressive experience in leading the deployment of medium to large scale Cybersecurity initiatives.
10+ years' experience working within IT teams to deliver business solutions.
Proven experience in managing projects in Agile and Waterfall environments.
PMP Certification or 10+ years in leading IT projects
Technical skills with knowledge in the development, configuration, implementation, and support of IT solutions.
Experience in working with cross-functional IT and cybersecurity teams to deliver system solutions.
Advanced change leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage communication, negotiate successful outcomes, identify risks, and engage stakeholders.
Extensive experience in building detailed, technical project plans and the creation of all project management artifacts, including project charters.
Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, meet deadlines, and simultaneously develop, deploy, and coordinate multiple projects, including cybersecurity systems and integrations.
Experience in performing the overall project management role for several medium to large scale project initiatives.
Project management experience leading initiatives of 12+ months in duration, and project teams consisting of 15+ full-time/part-time project team members.
Deep level of proficiency and understanding of information technology and the linkage between business processes, people, and systems.
Solid business acumen across multiple functional areas and processes.
Proven ability to effectively communicate ideas and solutions across all levels of the organization, including operational employees, senior management, technical personnel, and consultants (written & verbal).
Strong facilitation skills to drive issue resolution and consensus efficiently and effectively across all levels of the organization, as well as multiple business units / functional area stakeholders.
Well-versed in project management information systems and methodology.
Ability to participate in project activities occurring in multiple time zones and travel as necessary.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
Oversees all project activities and overall delivery.
Ensures alignment of project stakeholders via superb communications, influencing, and relationship building.
Simultaneously coordinates multiple workstreams across IT and business operating units.
Partners with the respective Business Leaders and associated IT team members to promote the PMO methodology and ensure quality delivery of project deliverables.
Ensures project activities are aligned with technology strategy and business goals, while meeting quality, scheduling, budget, and IT standards requirements.
Through project deployment, fosters and guides full adoption of tools and common business processes.
Provides leadership and training in the consistent use of the PMO methodology.
Drives the importance of risk management, formal test plans, and security controls.
Provides accurate project timelines and ensures project activities and resources are aligned to deliver established priorities.
Participates with the IT and Business Teams to develop and measure project success criteria and return on investment.
Advocates for change management with an empathy for relationships and positions.
Develops self in the knowledge of client project methodology, technical skills, and culture.
Experience You Will Bring:
Project Management and cybersecurity experience role
Experience working in organizations with diverse cultures, business operations and organizational needs.
Familiarity with NIST CSF controls
Knowledge of cybersecurity disciplines including Governance, Risk, and Compliance, Security Architecture, Cyber threats and remediation, data loss prevention, and asset management
Microsoft security tool experience is a plus.
Contractor and vendor relationship experience.
Effective communication for various stakeholder levels (project team, IT leaders, and business stakeholders).
Ability to facilitate the gathering of requirements and translate requirements into project planning and execution.
Exceptional meeting facilitation skills (in-person and virtual)
7+ years of Cybersecurity Project experience in a Senior IT Project Manager role
10+ Years of experience working in an IT environment independently and in teams (including remote and global delivery models).
