A Day in the Life
Geopolitical Risk Intelligence Manager | Remote

In this exciting role you will help build a Geopolitical Risk Intelligence Program that will support Enterprise Risk & Crisis Management, functional stakeholders, business units, and senior leaders in identifying, assessing, and mitigating geopolitical risk to ensure Medtronic continues to deliver life-saving therapies and drive patient outcomes.

Candidates ideally will be located within commuting distance of a Medtronic site. You will have the flexibility of a hybrid / remote work schedule.
This position will require working throughout global time zones.

The Geopolitical Risk Intelligence Manager will have responsibility for monitoring and identification of key risks, intelligence collection, assessment, report development, and communication to leaders. The Geopolitical Risk Intelligence Manager will track a diverse range of issues and trends, assess criticality from a business perspective and prioritize work accordingly, and author strategic and tactical assessments targeted to different audiences. Robust intelligence tradecraft, analytic rigor, and strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. The Geopolitical Risk Intelligence Manager will also help develop intelligence program strategy, talent, and stakeholder relationships.

In the Geopolitical Risk Intelligence Manager position, responsibilities will include the following and other duties may be assigned:
  • Apply open-source collection & analysis tradecraft to author robust, well-informed, succinct, and straightforward reports and briefings that answer critical questions and bring clarity to complex & interconnected risks.
  • Identify and assess geopolitical events and trends that may drive or influence strategic risks for Medtronic businesses.
  • Conduct forward-looking analysis of ongoing or emerging risks to employees, facilities, and business operations & planning, including but not limited to geopolitical conflict, political/social instability, trade & industrial strategy, intellectual property risk, military conflict, and crime.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the company and globe to respond to requests for information, identify intelligence gaps, support priority issues and projects, brief out assessment findings, and develop partnerships and trust.
  • Identify and develop potential internal analyst talent.
  • Maintain analytic independence, rigor, and a strong code of confidentiality in alignment with Medtronic's Mission, Values, and Goals.


Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant hands-on experience in government and/or private sector intelligence; or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant hands-on experience in government and/or private sector intelligence.


Nice to Have

Priority will be given to applicants who have education, experience, and/or certifications in the following areas:
  • Master's degree in political science, regional studies, intelligence studies, or a related field.
  • Strong qualitative analytic skills and experience working with quantitative analytic methodologies/specialists.
  • Experience conducting analysis on foreign actor strategy, politics, social trends, policy, organizational dynamics, and/or red team analysis.
  • Regional expertise in Asia-Pacific, with experience in other geographic regions.
  • Mandarin Chinese language skills- strong reading & listening comprehension.
  • Blends a strong intelligence background with experience assimilating business needs & strategy to define intelligence requirements and gaps.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed work style, able to work with limited direction.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in communication methods.
  • Experience mentoring junior intelligence analysts.
  • Ability to maintain a secret-level U.S. government clearance.
  • Ability to think strategically and to approach problems with a business mindset.
  • Significant expertise in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Competency in use of virtual collaboration tools (Zoom, Teams).
  • Fluent English language skills - written and spoken.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$113,600.00 - $170,400.00

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
