Schwab's Oracle Database Administrator role will be involved with industry leading multifunctional Retail Trading Applications, DBMS upgrades, application upgrades, disaster recovery, migrations, backups, optimizations and various engineering initiatives.
In this position you will be expected to understand the overall design, architecture and implementation of complex trading Applications and be responsible for evaluating the impact of decisions relating to databases and applications (Oracle RAC), providing recommendations to management around the placement and integration of other software and tools.
You bring advanced knowledge in database and application (Oracle RAC and Data Guard) technologies and ability to identify possible causes and solutions for problems based on prior experience and current research. You weigh the costs, benefits, risks and chances for success before recommending a course of action. You must have experience with monitoring, problem diagnosis and resolution, installation and configuration with applications you support as well as advanced knowledge in database (Oracle and Postgres), application (Linux based) and performance tuning. You will also be responsible to ensure compliance with established industry rules, regulations and best practices.

What you have
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar
- 5+ years of experience with Linux operating systems.
- 5+ years of experience with Unix shell scripts and automation.
- 7+ years of experience with Oracle databases.
- 7+ years of experience supporting problem analysis/resolution for O/S, database and middle tier technologies.
- 5+ years of experience supporting high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- 5+ years of Oracle RAC administration and Data Guard experience required
- 3+ years of Data guard configuration and Administration experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of application and systems architecture including Infrastructure.
- Unix/Windows OS and scripting Knowledge.
- High level networking, storage and virtual/ESX server knowledge.
- Experience with application and database related tools, such as Golden Gate, Data Guard, RMAN, etc.
- Knowledge of Cloud Based Services preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in analytical and quality assurance tools, techniques and standards, including performance engineering.
- Ability to create and communicate application architecture documentation utilizing Microsoft.
- Awareness of current technology trends and emerging standards.
- Independently assess risks, benefits and consideration of alternatives and make decision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
