Job Details

At Jack Henry (JH), the Lending and Deposits (LD) DevOps team is focused on the deployment, maintenance and patching of the cloud and on-premises environments for the different software products developed in the LD organization. We partner with the JH Enterprise Platform Infrastructure Core Services team, JH Technical Service team, the LD Operations team and the LD Software Development team to provide enterprise-level hosted environments for the community banks and credit unions that use the products.

As a Senior Applications Engineer, you will focus on adapting and customizing existing software to solve specific problems or meet identified specified needs. This position is responsible for supporting a hosted platform as well as building, deploying, monitoring and scaling resources to deliver the LD platforms. You will be empowered to identify and drive opportunities to improve automation for deployment, management, and tooling. You'll stay up to date on the latest development and deployment technologies and bring the latest tools and techniques to achieve optimal results.

This position may be worked remotely within the United States or at any Jack Henry office location.

What you'll be responsible for:

Identify and resolve complex application and service issues.
Troubleshoot system and deployment issues when needed.
Deploy code and configuration changes in automated and manual fashion through SDLC.
Construct, improve, maintain, and execute automated CI/CD deployment pipelines.
Monitor, record, and control change in order to maintain product integrity, as it relates to source code control and configurations.
Build-out and maintain multiple platform environments through SDLC.
You will combine engineering and software development experience and skills to drive best practices, patterns and architectures to maximize the availability, reliability and stability of platforms, processing and delivery of systems.
Actively participate in creating and adhering to corporate design and development standards.
Oversight and management of multiple environments to support software development life cycle and customers.
Collaborate with architects and software engineers to propose strategies, ideas and technologies.
Implement and utilize early warning and alerting technologies to aid in the development of self-healing responses to problems.
Participate in retrospectives focused on identifying contributing causes. Providing actionable solutions to prevent the issue from recurring and increase service reliability.
Automate solutions for complex & repetitive problems.
Create and maintain required technical documentation and architectural decision records. Contribution to departmental standards and processes.
May perform other job duties as assigned.

What you'll need to have:

Bachelor's degree in software development, engineering or information technology or an additional 8 years of experience for a total of 14 years of technical experience in systems engineering or infrastructure operations experience.
Minimum of 6 years of technical experience in systems engineering or infrastructure operations experience.
Must be able to work after hours and an on-call rotation as the business need dictates.

What would be nice for you to have:

Strong technical knowledge in automation, configuration management and software development frameworks and methodologies.
Experience with deployments of Google Cloud Platform cloud-based technologies.
Strong technical knowledge in the areas of applications, networks, and security. May require strong knowledge of enterprise applications.
