Lab Manager/Data Analyst

The Stigma Resistance Coalition Study at the MGH Depression Clinical and Research Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)/ Harvard Medical School is seeking a research data analyst. The data analyst will mainly assist on a federally funded grant and clinical trial focused on studying the use of contact based storytelling methods on a digital based platform to reduce the effects of mental illness stigma on help seeking behavior and address the role of medical mistrust in engagement with mental health services. Research methodologies used in this grant include use of technology as a tool, key informant interviews and focus groups, quantitative analysis (using R, SAS or SPSS or similar software), clinical trial methodology, electronic health record review, qualitative methods (coding using NVivo or Dedoose or similar software) and familiarity with behavioral self-report measures.

Job Responsibilities and Standards of Performance

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to data collection, project management, data analysis, data reporting, manuscript preparation and submission, and assistance with grant preparation.

A successful candidate should have a strong demonstrated interest and experience in clinical research related to health disparities, underserved communities, mental health in the Black population, medical mistrust, stigma, and behavioral health (some evidence of a publication record). Priority will be given to candidates interested in these areas, data analysis, manuscript writing, experience in grant preparation, and a goal for advancing in the field of mental health disparities and behavioral health. This is a one year position with the potential to renew the role dependent on funding and depending on the candidate's commitment to data analysis, writing, manuscript preparation, development of experience in grant writing, and supporting existing funded projects. This position will primarily be focused on data analysis of existing projects, manuscript preparation and submission, assistance on grant preparation for future projects.

Primary Duties:

Responsible for overall conduct and management of recruitment studies and clinical trial.

Ensure dissemination of study findings through support of data analysis, data reporting, manuscript preparation, and grant preparation.

Design and implement recruitment plans, and strategies

Manage community engagement strategies, including outreach to patients, communities and advocacy groups and patient focus groups.

Design or update telephone scripts, brochures, flyers, and other relevant recruitment materials.

Create and implement study specific written and electronic materials

Participate in creation of study specific web pages/content

Act to resolve any study related issues quickly and effectively.

Provide support, communication, and coordination to assure accurate and timely completion of all recruitment and study activities.

Lead and/or participate in team meetings.

Provide study staff/intern training as needed.

Review Informed Consent Forms and facilitate IRB submission and regulatory requirements.

Mentor less experienced team members

All other duties as assigned

Education/Experience

The data analyst should have completed the requirements for his or her degree at the master's level in Biostatistics, Psychology, Epidemiology, Public Health or a related field. Candidates with a doctoral level degree will also be considered (note: this is not a postdoctoral role).

Minimum Experience: 2-3 years as a lab manager/data analyst or similar role in a Clinical or Academic Research Organization

Experience using R, SAS, SPSS or similar software

Experience using qualitative software (NVivo, Dedoose or similar software)

Experience preparing grants and manuscripts (preferably experience with NIH grants)

Strong writing skills (with evidence of peer-reviewed publications)
