Job Title: Desktop Engineer (Active Directory Migration)

Job Term: Contract (8 Weeks)

Location: Warminster, Pennsylvania(Locals Only) - onsite role

Additional Information:
This is an onsite role that requires the candidate to work in-person Monday through Friday for a duration of 8 weeks.

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Desktop Engineer to lead an Active Directory migration project for our esteemed client based in Warminster, Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in migrating users, groups, workstations, and servers from the existing Active Directory environment to a newly established domain using Quest Migration Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examination of Current Environments:
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of the existing Microsoft Active Directory and Office 365 environments, including DNS, WINS, DHCP, and current Office 365 integration.
  • Design and Implementation Planning:
  • Develop a detailed design and implementation plan aligned with the business requirements of the client and compatible with the existing network topology.
  • Consultation and Modification:
  • Collaborate with the client's IT staff to review and refine the proposed design and implementation plan, incorporating any necessary modifications.
  • Implementation Execution:
  • Execute the design and implementation plan, including but not limited to:
  • Running Microsoft Assessment and Planning toolkit components.
  • Utilizing Active Directory Topology Diagrammer or similar tools.
  • Installing and configuring new Active Directory Domain Controllers.
  • Building redundant DNS, DHCP, and WINS services.
  • Configuring migration tools such as ADMT or Quest AD Migrator.
  • Conducting simulated migrations and addressing failed objects.
  • Executing the domain migration process for all relevant objects

Testing and Validation:

  • Perform thorough testing of all modifications made to the environment at the client's location to ensure seamless functionality post-migration.

Framework for Migration:
The migration process will follow a structured framework, beginning with the migration of Active Directory user, group, and computer objects, followed by workstations and servers. This phased approach ensures minimal disruption to day-to-day operations and allows for efficient troubleshooting and resolution of any issues encountered.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing Active Directory migrations.
  • Proficiency in utilizing migration tools such as Quest Migration Manager, ADMT, etc.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Office 365 integration.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with clients and internal teams.
  • Highly organized with exceptional problem-solving abilities.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, MCSA) are a plus.
