Job Description

cFocus Software seeks an IT Technical Writer III to join our program supporting EPA in Washington, DC. This position has remote capabilities. This position requires active Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, or related field
  • Master's degree in Technical Communication or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in technical writing for IT systems
  • At least 5 years of experience writing and maintaining software documentation
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with EPA or other government agency documentation
  • Certified Technical Professional Writer (CTPW) preferred
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner preferred
Duties:
  • Develop and maintain online documentation for all projects within the PWS scope
  • Create and update comprehensive technical documentation for complex IT systems
  • Write and revise user-friendly documentation tailored to various audience levels
  • Produce and maintain translator guides for data exchange processes
  • Develop detailed file specifications for data management and integration
  • Manage and update the Report Library, ensuring accuracy and relevance of reports
  • Maintain and enhance the Data Element Dictionary for consistency across systems
  • Collaborate with EPA personnel and other contractors to gather accurate information
  • Implement documentation best practices and style guides for consistency
  • Utilize technical writing tools and content management systems effectively
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to EPA standards and guidelines
  • Create and maintain documentation templates for various document types
  • Coordinate with development teams to document new features and system changes
  • Perform quality assurance reviews on all produced documentation
  • Upload finalized documents to appropriate S3 buckets in EPA's AWS Cloud environment
  • Document all changes made to existing documentation for version control
  • Identify and close relevant User Support Incident Tracking System (USITS) issues
  • Collaborate in the development of training materials and presentation content
  • Assist in creating web-based training modules when required
  • Stay updated on latest technical writing trends and EPA documentation requirements
  • Participate in project meetings to ensure documentation aligns with project goals
  • Provide expert advice on improving documentation processes and user experience
