This position reports to
Engineering Manager
Your role and responsibilities
Electrical Project Engineer positions offered by ABB Inc. (Auburn Hills, MI). Responsible for designing Low Voltage electrical systems that meet the requirements of the project includes creating electrical schematics, selecting appropriate components, and calculations according to specifications. Play key role within global team on design tasks and conduct design review to verify proper standards are followed to perform engineering assignments. Provide Technical guidance and expertise on electrical engineering principles, codes and standards. Collaborate with the supply chain function, review vendor documentation, and prepare RFQs for required components and manufacturing. Responsible for onsite installation and commissioning for system integration. Develop PLC programs to control equipment and create safety configuration for robotic systems. Ensure safety of electrical systems and automation solutions by conducting risk assessments to meet safety standards and performance level.

Qualifications for the role
- Requires a bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in electronic engineering, electrical engineering or a related engineering field and 5 years of experience in the position offered or 5 years of experience using electrical design software including AutoCAD or EPLAN. Also requires 5 years of experience: complying with electrical codes, standards and regulations including UL508A, NFPA79, and NEC; programming PLCs including Siemens TIA and Rockwell Studio 5000; and using communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Ether CAT, Modbus, and RS232/485. In lieu of a bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience as stated, employer will accept a master's or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 3 years of experience as stated. Position reports to Auburn Hills, MI office. Telecommuting permitted in accordance with company policy, but must live within commuting distance of stated office. Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.
