Description
We are looking for a skilled Data Center Technician to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Ashburn, Virginia. In this role, you will manage and support the installation, maintenance, and certification of data center infrastructure while ensuring seamless operations and compliance with service standards. You will collaborate closely with various teams and contractors to deliver high-quality solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Oversee infrastructure installation requests from initiation to completion, ensuring all requirements are met.
Certify network connections and peripherals prior to handoff and liaise with appropriate teams for additional infrastructure needs.
Coordinate and support power remediation projects, including rack-level capacity management and monitoring.
Organize work requests with electrical contractors to meet service level agreements.
Provide detailed estimates for assigned projects and document requirements through communication with IT and project management teams.
Manage procurement tasks, including ordering, tracking purchase orders, and maintaining inventory of infrastructure materials.
Conduct surveys for power installations, infrastructure cabling, and new data center build-outs.
Participate in meetings related to infrastructure projects and deliver root cause analysis reports for power issues.
Create, monitor, and close tickets for infrastructure work, ensuring timely completion and accurate documentation.
Assist with infrastructure and rack installations, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related role, preferably within a data center environment.
Proficiency in NOC operations and cable installations, including both fiber and copper.
Familiarity with cable assemblies and infrastructure design.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft technologies and Cisco hardware.
Knowledge of SAN (Storage Area Network) systems and their implementation.
Strong ability to interpret schematics and drawings for project execution.
Excellent organizational and communication skills for coordinating projects and collaborating with teams.
Proven track record of managing procurement and inventory processes effectively.
