This position is for an AI Software Engineer Intern in the Cloud & Software team, part of the Advanced Innovation Center. This is an exciting role to work closely with the AI Product Development and Architecture team. To be successful in this role, you are expected to be highly hands-on, have knowledge of basic software engineering concepts, and be motivated to learn new technologies and work on non-tech tasks with the product management team.

Job Responsibilities:
  • The engineering intern will be responsible for supporting the AI Team in product management activities, tests and evaluating core AI technologies for ongoing projects/new project initiatives.
  • Duties include product tasks and tech tasks such as installing and configuring AI Software systems on desktops and laptops, performing evaluations, and collecting data to help the team evaluating different technologies.
  • During the 8-12-week internship, Interns are paired with mentors and expected to collaborate with other Cloud and Software (CSW) projects, research topics, collect information, installing and configuring AI systems on desktops and laptops, present findings, and contribute to help the team evaluating different technologies.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine learning, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Research Interns are expected to be physically located in their team lead's Lenovo worksite location for the duration of their internship a minimum of 3 days a week.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.
  • Proficient understanding of machine learning concepts.
  • Research expertise with AI modeling is a plus.
  • Deep Knowledge of AI model design, architecture, and application.
  • Model training experience including continuous pretrain, fine-tune, RLHF, and benchmarking for specific area is a plus.
