Business Development Program Manager

Optopax specializes in design services for advanced optical systems, including optics and camera systems for AR/VR/MR platforms, autonomous and smart machine systems, 3D imaging solutions, lightfield cameras, mobile smartphone cameras, and semiconductor packaging technologies. The team at Optopax has international experience in the semiconductor industry and a balance of technical and business development skills, offering optical test stations, test charts, LWIR testing components, and underwater optics.
Role Description
This is a Business Development Program Manager at role at Optopax, with a preference for candidates in the Bay Area, CA. The role involves developing and implementing business strategies, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and contributing to the growth and success of the company.
Qualifications:
- Sales and Technical Blend: A unique mix of sales talent, technical capabilities, and business management skills, with an entrepreneurial enthusiasm to take ownership of projects and goals.
- Experience: Ideally 5+ years of experience in a business development and/or technical program management role.
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; an Engineering degree with business management experience is strongly preferred.
- Technical Expertise: A deeply technical background with the ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Business Acumen: Strong business management experience, with a focus on identifying and capitalizing on opportunities to drive revenue growth.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to understand customer needs, present solutions, and set realistic goals for the team.
- Customer-Focused: Ability to match customer needs with appropriate solutions and maintain strong client relationships.
- Attitude and Drive: Persistent, with a positive attitude and eagerness to contribute to the growth of the business. Strong persuasion skills, work-ethic, integrity and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Technical Aptitude: Strong technical aptitude and a desire to continuously learn about our products, services, and the broader market landscape. Cameras and optics knowledge is a definite plus.
- Tools Proficiency: Proficiency in Google Workspace applications and Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Slack and email for daily operations and client communication.
- Work Authorization: Candidates must have existing authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Travel Requirements: Must be willing and able to travel internationally as needed to meet with clients, attend conferences, or support business development activities.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, comfortable operating in less defined roles, and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Preferred:
- Camera and Optical System Knowledge: Technical understanding of CMOS and infrared cameras, optical lenses, CMI manufacturing processes and equipment would be a significant advantage.
- Flexibility: Comfort in managing less defined activities and the ability to pivot priorities as the business evolves.
- Location: Preference for candidates based in the Bay Area, CA.
