As a Lead ServiceNow Developer, you play a pivotal, technical leadership role in successfully deploying ServiceNow solutions for our clients. In this role, you will be responsible for configuring, customizing, and implementing ServiceNow applications to meet specific business requirements. Your technical expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence will contribute significantly to the success of our projects and the satisfaction of our clients.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Architectural Expertise: Design scalable, reliable, and high-performance ServiceNow solutions that meet both immediate project needs and long-term business goals.
  • Solution Configuration: Lead engagements with Solutions Architects and Business Analysts to understand the functional requirements and translate them into effective ServiceNow configurations. Configure and customize ServiceNow applications and modules to align with client's needs and industry best practices.
  • Business Acumen: Drive understanding of the business context in which the team is working. Align technical decisions with the client's overarching goals and objectives.
  • Technical Implementation: Lead collaboration with cross-functional teams to implement ServiceNow solutions. This includes setting up workflows, business rules, user interfaces, and automation to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
  • Innovation: Encourage innovation within the development team. Support the exploration of new technologies, methodologies, and processes that can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the team's work.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop ServiceNow configuration test plans and validate functionality, data integrity, and user experience. Address any issues and perform necessary adjustments to ensure the solution meets the desired outcomes.
  • Data Migration: Develop and document data migration strategies and plans. Lead data migration activities from legacy systems to ServiceNow, ensuring data accuracy and consistency during the transition.
  • Integration Management: Design and document integration strategies and plans. Lead the integration of ServiceNow with other systems and applications to create seamless end-to-end processes.
  • User Training and Documentation: Design and provide end-user training to ensure a smooth adoption of the implemented solution. Create detailed documentation of the configuration and customization for future reference.
  • Change Management: Lead change management efforts by assisting users during the transition period, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues promptly. Manage stakeholder expectations, facilitate smooth transitions during system changes, and minimize system disruption.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and devise strategies to mitigate them. This includes considering factors such as security vulnerabilities, data privacy concerns, and potential integration challenges.
  • Incident and Problem Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to ServiceNow implementations. Lead the collaboration with support teams to provide timely resolution to incidents and problems.
  • Security and Compliance: Lead the adherence to security best practices and ensure that the team understands and implements solutions that meet relevant compliance requirements. Identify gaps in team knowledge and work with internal Practice leadership to resolve knowledge gaps.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay current with the latest trends, tools, and practices in the ServiceNow ecosystem. Lead personal and team development.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Lead the mentorship and guidance of junior developers. This includes providing technical guidance, code reviews, best practice education, lunch and learns, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Collaboration and Communication: While not necessarily a formal project manager, be well-versed in project management principles. This includes coordinating tasks, managing timelines, and ensuring the successful completion of projects.
  • Strategic Communication: Interact with executive stakeholders, both internally and client-side, explaining complex technical matters in a clear and non-technical manner.
  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate disagreements within the team, handle challenges that arise during projects, and promote a positive team atmosphere.
  • Corporate Growth: Contribute to the growth of the business. Lead the development of client roadmaps and solution demonstrations to identify and foster new opportunities for ICF services and ServiceNow license sales. Actively contribute to proposals ("bids") for new opportunities, including oral presentations, written technical proposals, and reviews of such work.


Job Location: This position requires that the job be performed in the United States. If you accept this position, you should note that ICF does monitor employee work locations blocks access from foreign locations/foreign IP addresses, and also prohibits personal VPN connections.

Required Experiences and Certifications

  • 14+ years of experience implementing IT solutions with at least 4 years of ServiceNow solutions
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance
  • due to federal contract requirements.
  • MUST RESIDE IN THE United States (U.S.) and the work MUST BE PERFORMED in the United States (U.S.), as this work is for a federal contract and laws do apply .


Additional Experiences and Certifications

Certified in one or more additional mainline certifications, with preference for the following combinations:

  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer and Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) - Application Portfolio Management
  • CIS - Customer Service Management and CIS- IT Service Management
  • CIS - Discovery and CIS - Service Mapping
  • CIS - Software Asset Management and CIS - Hardware Asset Management
  • CIS - Project Portfolio Management and CIS - Application Portfolio Management


Preferred Experience:

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Hands-on experience (>480 hours each) configuring or building 10 or more ServiceNow applications
  • In-depth knowledge of ServiceNow platform capabilities, modules, and best practices
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and IT Service Management (ITSM) principles
  • In-depth knowledge of scripting languages, including JavaScript and GlideScript
  • Strong technical skills, including workflow configuration, and business rule development
  • Expertise in designing and implementing complex workflows
  • The ability to independently create and manage integrations with external systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to innovate solutions
  • Detail-oriented tendencies with excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • The ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Understanding of performance optimization techniques

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is :

$102,285.00 - $173,884.00
