Senior Product Manager, PCR Instruments

Location: Carlsbad, California; Vilnius, Lithuania / Biosciences Division - Molecular Biology Business Unit

How will you make an impact?

Product Managers work directly with customers and industry leaders with vision to understand the existing and future technology needs of the marketplace. The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for the product strategy for the full PCR instruments product line within the PCR Strategic Business segment, providing the vision and leadership to guide the product management team towards forward-looking, customer-centric new product development plans and portfolio management for maximum lifetime value. The successful candidate will also drive revenue and profitability targets, price setting/margin strategies and provide day-to-day product management support to sales, technical support and operations.

What will you do?
  • Think and act strategically, using your financial and business insight to move strategies to action. Make recommendations and take decisions in inexact situations.
  • Build a successful working environment to enable teammates to deliver their full potential whilst identifying and providing further development opportunities. Optimize work processes and support network expansion.
  • Manage full global product life cycle including product discontinuation strategies to ensure flawless customer experience and smooth revenue transition.
  • Own profit and loss and longer-term financial targets of the portfolio supported by global list pricing and regional discounting strategies.
  • Provide direction and support to commercial, R&D, market development, distribution partners and operations, to increase revenue and develop and implement marketing strategies. Draw together future demand forecasts to enable the business to support customer requirements successfully.
  • Engage in STRAP and AOP process by Identifying, analyzing and articulating market insights and trends, competitive threats, customer requirements, and core proficiencies to develop short/long term segment strategy and product roadmaps.
  • Drive successful development and delivery of a market-leading PCR instrument product portfolio on time and on-budget with best-in-class purchasing experiences using Product Commercialization Process.
  • Craft compelling value propositions that effectively match our core business strengths to market needs and work with market development to develop/deliver specific marketing messages to stimulate demand.
  • Partner with regional and global market development teams to use market research and voice of customer feedback in specific regions and customer segments to understand dynamics of market evolution and competitive forces to maintain competitive advantage. Leverage information to drive and refine growth plans.
  • Identify, establish, and lead strategic partnerships, including global relationships with customers, suppliers, channel partners and industry opinion leaders.
  • Fashion, coordinate, and deliver sales training and proactively engage with management on the product portfolio, its performance, and any changes in the market or competition.
  • Provides mentoring and feedback to other peers


How will you get here?

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, biology, life sciences or similar
  • MS degree or an advanced degree like an MBA or Ph.D. a plus
Experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Product Management experience.
  • Experience in life science applications and specific knowledge of life science market
  • Strong knowledge of research and molecular diagnostic/advanced therapeutics industry and manufacturing quality standards an advantage
  • Experience with financial modeling and data analysis skills. Ability to build and analyze models to forecast and track results.
  • Consistent track record of introducing impactful products/product lines into the market.
  • Basic knowledge of the fundamental concepts of intellectual property, patents and contract law.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful to successfully implement both short-and long-term plans.
  • Impressionable customer interactions
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Fluent in English with excellent oral and written communication skills (PowerPoint and Excel expertise)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: able to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to distill customer requirements, understands competitive strengths and weaknesses, and develop compelling product offerings and value propositions that resonate in the market
  • Talent to work effectively in a matrix management structure and partner seamlessly within the organization
  • Mastery in developing and maintaining strong working relationships cross functionally
  • Able to act in an autonomous capacity and address problems of diverse scope and high complexity and able to challenge the standard and facilitate change among diverse partner groups.
  • Expertise to present high-level information to multiple audiences, including scientists, executives, and non-scientific personnel

  • Flexibility to travel up to 25%, including international


Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $143,000 - $200,000.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
