Job: Low-Code Digital Application Builder/Developer
Location : Boston, MA (The position is remote. The standard work week is 20 hours (overtime is approved on a case-by-case basis). We are targeting at least a year for the initial contract term, although it is dependent on project duration.)
Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and maintain existing low-code Knack applications, as well as scope, design, build, test, and launch new low-code digital applications that simplify and automate internal processes and create smooth and welcoming experiences for residents engaging with city services.
Develop documentation throughout the application development life cycle.
Troubleshoot and correct problems. Ensure the applications are well-maintained.
Thoroughly test and ensure quality as new and modied solutions are released.
Propose solution options to diverse stakeholders and support decision-making on technical design choices.
Know what data needs to be captured and measured, and build in necessary instrumentation while keeping user experience at top of mind.
Ensure that the platform(s)'s conguration is compliant with organizational requirements and data management best practices.
Build and maintain integrations with other City of Boston systems to remain compatible with data integration and security standards and remain consistent with current industry protocols.
Build out training & certication for internal application builders and owners. Coach and support cohorts of builders.
Collaborate with teams to scope and execute the migration of existing Knack applications to other no-code platforms that better meet the needs of the City of Boston.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate no-code/low-code platforms based on the specic requirements of the applications including their technical needs and integrations.
Assist in project planning and estimation.
Perform related work as required.
REQUIREMENTS
At minimum two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience building no-code or low-code applications for customer facing and internal workows. Relevant and applicable project or bootcamp experience can be substituted for work experience.
Experience building in Knack (including data management, complex automations and formulas, clean multi-faceted interfaces, user access management and integrations) is strongly preferred.
Experience with Javascript
Additional experience in UI/UX design, service design, product management, or software development is a plus.
Experience with WYSIWYG frontend platforms (Softr, Bubble, etc) and Integration-as-a-service platforms (Zapier, Make, etc) is a plus.
Experience working with agile methodologies and on cross-functional software development teams.
Knowledge of version control (e.g., Git) and development best practices.
Familiarity with web and mobile user interface design best practices.
Have a user-centric philosophy of application development, with a strong desire to understand underlying user needs and the ability to effectively serve them with well-designed technology.
Strong candidates will be able to work independently with little direct oversight and will welcome collaboration with diverse stakeholders, executives, and peers.
Must have strong written and verbal communications skills and have demonstrated an ability to work effectively in a team environment.
