Role: Senior Embedded IOT Engineer Location: Remote with the ability to occasionally travel to manufacturing locations as needed.
Job Description:


At Lateral Insights, we are seeking an experienced Senior Embedded IoT Engineer with 8+ years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing IoT solutions. This role requires expertise in Kepware, containerization, MQTT, and edge computing with IoT Core. Experience with AWS Kinesis is a strong plus. As a technical lead, you will drive the architecture, design, and development of scalable IoT solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the architecture, design, and development of embedded IoT solutions, ensuring scalability and security.
Develop and maintain firmware for embedded IoT devices using C, C++, or Rust.
Implement and optimize Kepware for industrial automation and connectivity.
Design and deploy containerized applications for IoT environments.
Utilize MQTT for efficient messaging and real-time data exchange.
Work with low-power embedded systems, optimizing performance and energy efficiency.
Integrate sensors, actuators, and communication modules (Wi-Fi, LTE, NB-IoT, BLE) into IoT devices.
Implement secure firmware updates (OTA) and encryption mechanisms.
Develop edge computing solutions using IoT Core for real-time data processing.
Integrate and optimize AWS Kinesis for streaming data processing (preferred).
Ensure seamless hardware-software interfacing and work with microcontrollers (MCUs) and microprocessors (MPUs).
Work with cross-functional teams to integrate IoT solutions with cloud platforms and enterprise systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve IoT connectivity, performance, and security issues.
Stay updated with emerging IoT trends and technologies, driving innovation and best practices.
Required Qualifications:


8+ years of experience in embedded IoT engineering, including senior-level or lead experience.
Proficiency in embedded programming (C, C++, Rust) for microcontrollers and microprocessors.
Strong experience with Kepware, MQTT, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and edge computing with IoT Core.
Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux.
Hands-on experience with network protocols, cybersecurity principles, and data streaming technologies.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Strong knowledge of power optimization, security protocols, and hardware-software integration.
Hands-on experience with real-time data streaming and processing, preferably using AWS Kinesis.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead technical initiatives.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:


Experience with industrial automation and IIoT solutions.
Familiarity with big data pipelines and analytics in IoT environments.
Certifications in AWS IoT, Azure IoT, or other related technologies.
