Client: Major St. Louis based regional healthcare system and one of the 25 largest in the U.S. operating over 90 medical facilities across 8 states employing over 2,000 physicians and over 44,000 employees with annual revenue over $8B. Modern Healthcare Magazine named as a “top 100 places to work” and four-time Watson Health Top 15 Health System.

Overview:

Manage the relationships between client and external vendor. Administer the contracts with IT hardware and software vendors. Collect information about external marketplace (not limited to technology) and serves as a resource on this knowledge to the organization. Provide information and advice about technology vendors, offerings, and options. May interact with vendor to resolve escalated problems and plan for future releases of software.                                                                                                              Manage the relationships between client and external vendor. Review, negotiate and administer contracts with IT hardware and software vendors. Collect information about external marketplace (not limited to technology) and serves as a resource on this knowledge to the organization. Provide information and advice about technology vendors, offerings, and options. (Note: This is not an IT Director, IT Asset Manager, IT Manager, or Project Manager position. Seeking a hands on primary specialist in IT procurement and vendor negotiation in a large enterprise level environment.)

Role:

  • Resolve complaints, make adjustments, or correct mistakes regarding a specific set of products, services, capabilities, issues, or questions.
  • Monitor progress and performance of vendor services based on more-complex statements of work
  • Responsible for managing statements of work for contracted labor.
  • May perform simple negotiations with established vendors.
  • Identify and document problems and notifies others as appropriate based on problem escalation procedures.
  • Applies understanding of a primary professional segment to resolve most common problems/ issues/ opportunities.
  • Utilize understanding of client's business and the implications that each technology has on business results.
  • Adapt and communicate specific subject matter to others through explanation, demonstration, testing, and reinforcement.
  • Work with project manager to define tasks & create team work plans.
  • May delegate work to others and monitor progress. Identifies issues affecting work progress and recommend solutions.
  • Estimate effort to complete requirements for small, simpler projects.

Skills:

  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of the fundamental tools and concepts of one of the information technology teams.
  • Apply that understanding to make independent practical contributions to moderately complex IT work within a particular client department or function.
  • Be accountable for addressing customer needs through individual action.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor''s degree.
  • 12+ years experience in IT contract review/negotiation and IT procurement/purchasing.
  • Strong experience negotiating software licensing contracts.
  • Experience in an IT procurement setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare industry is a plus.
  • Experience in large enterprise operations.
