Powertrain DRE Engineer / Design Engineer

Location Plymouth, MI

Contract / Full Time

Key words

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive Powertrain system and subsystem design and development

Thorough knowledge of engineering design & development concepts of automotive powertrain

Very good proficiency in CATIA V6/V5. Prepare and execute design release in the 3DExperience PLM system. Experience in creating 3D designs and 2D drawings

Develop and deliver new design of Drive unit and powertrain

Knowlege of gear design and manufacturing

Create and optimize mechanical designs for performance, size, weight, durability, and cost

Work closely with both internal teams and external suppliers,

Work closely with stakeholders and attribute owners across the company (Vehicle Safety, Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Durability, Manufacturing, etc.)

Coordinate virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities for your designs

Knowledge of casting, forging and Sheetmetal tooling

Prepare and maintain engineering release and change documentation with GD&T

Maintain and develop Design Validation Plans (DVP), and Design Failure Mode Analysis (DFMEA)
