A Day in the Life
As an Electrical Engineer I working on the Surgical Robotics program (R&D RPE - Released Product Engineering) at Medtronic, you will be part of a team that supports the production electronic hardware for the capital and instrumentation equipment within the robotic system. You will work with other team members in developing, testing, integration, verification, validation, and production transfer of sophisticated electronic systems.

Location: North Haven, CT or Boston, MA
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Design and verify electrical circuits within the Robotic Assisted Surgery Platform.
  • Design models and execute simulations. Analyze results.
  • Design and test custom electrical assemblies and cable assemblies.
  • Debugs components and complex systems
  • Develop, document, and execute test procedures and protocols.
  • Applies knowledge of personal computer hardware, peripherals, operating systems and device drivers.
  • Assembles bills of materials, interfaces with key suppliers.
  • Participate in generating electronics specifications from system and subsystem requirements.
  • Participate in the development of product build procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews.
  • Participate in developing requirements and perform hardware / software integration.
  • Participate in DFMECA and component derating studies.
  • Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks.
  • Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.


Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with 0 years of engineering experience


Nice to Have
  • Bachelor's Degree / Master's Degree in a related technical field such as electrical engineering
  • Medical device electrical engineering experience
  • Medical device product development, regulatory process, safety, e.g., IEC 60601
  • Previous experience with robotics
  • Knowledge of firmware / embedded software development is desirable.
  • Programming Languages: Python, C
  • Experience with Linux and Windows
  • Experience developing electrical and electronic schematics with electronic software packages.
  • Basic understanding of technical principles, theories, and techniques
  • Basic knowledge and application of investigative research and analysis
  • Basic understanding of engineering practices, product safety and root cause analysis
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and computer software skills utilizing research-based applications
  • Ability to compile and organize technical data using Excel, Word, or Minitab
  • Ability to work in teams - we are looking for a team player!

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$69,600.00 - $104,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
