Job Details

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Governance Specialist with a strong public health background and a proven ability to design and implement comprehensive Data Governance programs for state agencies. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Data Governance frameworks, processes, and tools, along with experience working with State or Federal agencies in the public health sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement a robust Data Governance program tailored to the needs of state agencies, ensuring alignment with public health priorities and regulatory requirements.
  • Define and establish Data Governance policies, standards, and best practices, including data quality, security, and privacy frameworks.
  • Lead the selection, evaluation, and implementation of Data Governance tools to support processes such as metadata management, data lineage, and data cataloging.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across public health agencies to identify critical data assets and define stewardship and ownership roles.
  • Provide expertise in Data Governance processes, including data lifecycle management, data integration, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate current Data Governance maturity levels and create roadmaps for achieving desired objectives.
  • Develop training materials and deliver workshops to promote a culture of Data Governance within the organization.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of Data Governance initiatives, continuously refining strategies to meet evolving requirements.
  • Stay informed of advancements in Data Governance methodologies and tools to ensure the program remains current and effective.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or related fields, with a focus on public health.
  • Demonstrated ability to devise and implement end-to-end Data Governance programs for state agencies or similar organizations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Data Governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK), processes, and tools like Collibra, Informatica, or Talend.
  • Familiarity with public health data standards, compliance requirements, and reporting structures.
  • Strong understanding of data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Proven experience in collaborating with State or Federal agencies, particularly on public health projects or initiatives.
  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Data Management, Public Health, Computer Science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Data Governance or Data Management, such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional).
  • Experience with federal programs or initiatives (e.g., Medicaid, CDC, or health information exchanges).
  • Strong project management skills and familiarity with Agile methodologies.

Location Requirement:
This role is based in NJ, Richmond, Maryland, or Virginia. Candidates must be available to work onsite or in a hybrid capacity as required.
