Overview:
We are seeking an experienced z/OS Systems Programmer to support our client in maintaining and optimizing their mainframe environment. This role involves the administration, upgrade, and enhancement of z/OS systems and related infrastructure, ensuring operational efficiency, system reliability, and scalability.
Duties:

Perform ongoing maintenance of z/OS operating systems including installations, patching, upgrades, and administration

Manage and support associated storage systems and systems software products (databases, transaction servers, security management, scheduling, report distribution)

Configure and maintain UNIX Systems Services

Execute mainframe and related storage upgrades

Provide production off-hours coverage as required and support periodic weekend implementations
Mandatory Qualifications: (must be qualifiable)

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field or 15+ years of experience in mainframe systems programming.

10+ years of experience with z/OS, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, IOCP/HCD

Working knowledge of CICS, IMS, DB2, and AFP printing

Strong expertise with VTAM and TCP/IP networking

Proficiency with basic IBM utilities (IDCAMS, IEFBR14, etc.)

Experience with program product installations

Working knowledge of IBM virtual tape systems and Unix System Services

Experience with monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON

Proven experience supporting enterprise-wide, large-scale implementations

Prior experience with mainframe CPU installations as a systems programmer consultant
