Responsibilities
Noblis is seeking a Network Engineer to design, configure, manage, and troubleshoot/repair network issues for FAA National Airspace Systems (NAS) either in operation or in design and test. Candidates will make sure that systems meet all FAA telecommunications guidelines. Candidates will also support on-site implementation and troubleshooting at CONUS and OCONUS sites as required. Candidates must also have the ability to participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support as needed.
Professionals in network engineering are responsible for designing, implementing, and managing computer networks to ensure reliable and efficient communication and connectivity within organizations. They utilize their expertise in network architecture, protocols, and technologies to plan, deploy, and optimize network infrastructure to meet business requirements and support organizational goals. Typical responsibilities include designing network topologies, selecting and configuring networking equipment, such as routers, switches, and firewalls, and implementing network security measures to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access. Network engineering roles also involve monitoring network performance, analyzing traffic patterns, and troubleshooting network issues to identify and resolve connectivity and performance problems. Additionally, professionals may collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems administrators, software developers, and cybersecurity specialists, to integrate network solutions with other IT systems and applications. Their expertise in areas such as routing and switching, network virtualization, wireless networking, and cloud networking enables organizations to maintain robust and scalable network infrastructure that supports business operations, facilitates collaboration, and enables innovation and growth.
The Network Engineer will also develop IP configurations and complete FAA IP supplemental forms including IP subnetting, VPN configurations, firewall rules and other networking details prior to submission to the FAA Telecommunications Service ordering process. This position will also attend meetings with the FTI vendor and the FAA to ensure that supported programs are progressing on schedule with minimal interruption to FAA operations. They will also work with other parts of the FAA organization; specifically, FAA Operations, FAA Security, FAA field personnel and FAA System Program Offices.
You are responsible for leading individual projects, people, or technical/functional solutions, leveraging capabilities and sharing and seeking knowledge and information across the organization. You understand the current and emerging client space and evaluate and apply practical and innovative concepts and methodologies to solve difficult problems. Independently complete routine work.
