They are looking for a highly skilled Cyber Security Engineer to join their team and support federal cybersecurity initiatives in a fully remote capacity.
Role Overview:
As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security solutions that protect government systems and data from cyber threats. You will work closely with federal agencies to assess vulnerabilities, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with security policies and frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage cybersecurity solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint security.
  • Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing to identify potential security threats.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices in alignment with NIST, FISMA, and other federal cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Monitor security incidents, analyze logs, and respond to cybersecurity threats in real-time.
  • Collaborate with federal agencies to enhance their security posture through risk mitigation and security awareness training.
  • Lead security incident response efforts and perform forensic analysis as needed.
  • Implement and manage encryption, authentication, and access control mechanisms to ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Stay up to date with emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies to continuously improve security measures.
Required Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance (mandatory requirement).
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity engineering, risk management, or IT security roles.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks and standards such as NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, and RMF.
  • Experience with security tools such as Splunk, Tenable Nessus, SIEM platforms, Firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA), and EDR solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud security in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, encryption protocols, and secure software development.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
Preferred Certifications:
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
  • CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)
  • CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker)
  • GSEC, GPEN, or other GIAC certifications
  • AWS Security Specialty or Azure Security Engineer Associate (if applicable)
