Job Description
1. Why is this position open? The Direct To consumer area is in the process of moving their sales/service employees to Salesforce to manage interactions. As a result, an IT team is being created to provide ongoing support and optimize Salesforce for that group of users. These open positions will establish that team.
2. How is it impacting the business? Salesforce will be the primary tool used by the business to interact with customers. After they are rolled on to Salesforce, the work will focus on leveraging the platform to optimize business processes that lead directly to achieving sales and service goals.
3. What is the scope of the project? Could you please provide 3 - 4 sentences of the project work and what do day to day responsibilities look like? These folks will work as part of a scrum team with other IT developers as well as a business Product Owner where they will work to deliver solutions business problems. Non-lead individuals will have on-the job training to learn Salesforce Apex development and Salesforce system administration, and cloud-based implementations.
4. What technologies or systems will this contractor be utilizing? Front end development based on web standards, Salesforce development Apex and Lightning Components and development pipeline tooling example Flosum.
5. If a candidate does not have all the technologies listed, would there be technologies you would consider similar and/or transferable for this position? For the four scrum team software engineers, we will provide the necessary training.
6. What are your absolute Must haves in a candidate? Preferred/Desired? Must Haves 1. Associate's or Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (6 years of experience equates to an Associate s degree when defining equivalent work experience ) 2. Development experience in modern technology 3. Agile experience 4. Strongest candidates will have experience and/or familiarity with most of the technologies/tasks below Desired 1. 1+ years Java development 2. Salesforce development experience (Apex and Lightning components) 3. Experience working in a shared Salesforce environment 4. Experience with development pipeline tooling, ex. Flosum
7. Will this job lead to a FTE role? Yes, assuming performance expectations have been met.
8. Could you breakdown the responsibility composition for this role in terms of percentages? (Front-end..Middleware..Back-end..New development 10%..Maintenance 10%.... reporting 20% etc ) The FTE will be responsible for the full software stack within Salesforce (Object models, front end development, integrations, and server-side processing). Percentages in those areas will fluctuated based on work. The team will initially focus on new development but that will gradually decrease as new functionality is delivered.
10. Will this person be any sort of team lead? Two junior software engineers to work as scrum team members.

12. Size and Culture of their team? This will be a brand-new team that is part of a dedicated squad focused on the Direct To Consumer business user group. The scrum team will be supported by an IT Business Analyst, an IT Product Manager, and a business Product Manager to help coach and set direction/governance.
13. Other departments they will interact with? There will be close collaboration with the Salesforce focused IT teams in RIS as well as the opportunity to interact with the many different business areas participating in the Salesforce enterprise org at Principal.
